How To Tell Person To Not Buy New Phone Case Each Week

My grandma is 92 years old and has an iPhone 5c. Every Sunday, she goes to Target and buys an Otterbox for $50 . She claims the case wears out after a while. How do I tell her to not buy a case every week?

I know, but she dosent have any money. I send her a $250 check every week and that $50 is a waste IMO. I also pay her bills.

You can't. She's not being rational, so there's no argument you can make that will convince her. Honestly, your best bet is to collect the cases she buys and sell them used on ebay. At least then you can recoup some of the money.

I don't drop my phone often, but the one time I do drop it during its lifetime I think it's worth knowing nothing will happen to it if I do. My phone is in my pocket 99% of it's life anyway... what do I care what it looks like? I use my phone for utility, not some weird fashion accessory.

That's odd behavior for someone that old. I get annoyed more often at older people trying to get way too much mileage out of things that are cheap to replace. I would expect one of them to use a phone case until it was literally falling to pieces and then still trying to tape it together to use it a bit longer.

I'm not sure what you can do. It's hard to get people that old to change their behaviors.

Take the previous Otter box, re-package it, and tell her you bought a new case for her at Target. Repeat each week alternating between the cases she already has.
