I wish someone could make a database..where you input you scores, and select config from pull down menu...then people can sort results using the different criteria.

SickBeast let's see your benchmarks

I was more wondering why you don't feel too bad seeing as you're so sorry.

I don't have benchmarks because I don't have Doom3 yet. Needless to say, you would beat me. I have a lowly 9700PRO.

You are the king don at this point.

I'd like to know why you think you need to single me out for your wiseass remarks!!
All I did was post my benchmark scores. No need to be a dick!

First of all, saying sorry to ATi in your signature is pretty wise-assed, so you opened yourself up to it.

What I said was to be taken lightly as humour which you're obviously incapable of doing. I wasn't being a dick at all; you need to lighten up. I recount my previous statement; you are no longer the king don.

I really can't help it if you are a fanboy and I offended youwith my sorry ATI..
But quiet frankly if you don't like my sig. why don't you tell someone who cares.
This thread is about timedemos and doom3 not sickbeasts dislike for my sig.

I'm not offended by your signature, nor am I a fanboy. You appear to have an nVidia preference though.

You should think twice before calling someone else a wise-ass if that's what you're going to use as your signature.

Ati Radeon 9800XT (stock speed; Overdriveff)
1GB PC-3500 (2:3:3:7)

10x7 Hi Q 8AF/0AA everything 'on' (vsynch off)

1) 37.4 FPS
2) 41.5 FPS
3) 41.5 FPS

Same as above but with 2/AA

1) 32.5
2) 36.6
3) 36.5

Not "exactly" a slideshow.

:roll:

i didn't bother to bench with a higher res or a lower IQ as this seems "just right" for 'playability' . . . i tend to use 2AA but haven't hit any slowdowns yet 2 hours into the game . . . i guess i really don't see much need for it (it is SO dark) and will gladly turn off AA if it becomes necessary

I did a slight (5%) overclock on my Ti4400 - gave me a little boost in fps.
I also do about a 13% overclock on my CPU/RAM (150Mhz bus instead of 133)

P4 2.4Ghz (OC to 2.7) @ 533Mhz bus (oc to 600Mhz)
GeForce4 Ti 4400 128MB oc 288/576 (GPU/RAM)
1GB DDR 333 Ram

So here's my results of timedemo demo1 1

640x480xmedium = 38.3 fps
800x600xmedium = 29.9 fps
1024x768xmedium = 20.5 fps
640x480xhigh = 20.6 fps
800x600xhigh = 14.1 fps
1024x768xhigh = 9.2 fps

Looks like 800x600xmedium is the sweet spot for my rig. I do plan on building a new machine, but could I put a new vid card for a reasonable amount of money and manage to get 1024x768x high quality, and still get 30+ fps? I'd like to get something under $200 Maybe a Radeon 9800Pro 128, or maybe GeForce FX 5900 128MB? Or would those not be substantial enough upgrade above my Ti4400?

Mobile Athlon XP 2600+ @ 2.2GHz (147MHz FSB)
1GB PC3200
PNY GeForce 6800 GT (350/1000 stock)

All setting were set in the game, and all settings were maxed out:

1024x768_high_4X AA_8X AF (default with high setting)_vsync off = 47.3 FPS

^
My CPU and system bus are holding me back. VERY smooth playing though.

1700+ @ 2.14GHz
512 OCZ PC3200
HIS 9800Pro (XT speeds - 412/730)

1024x768 @ High Detail (All settings enabled - Vsync off causes tearing for me - 0AA) = 34.4 FPS
1280x1024 @ Med (Same settings as above) = 31.2

Running on 10x8, I just like the looks of it better. Need to upgrade with a mobo+ram+cpu combo.

The only video card I had handy while building my new A64 box was a GeForce 2 MX400 sitting about, and I thought... what the hell...

Athlon 64 2800+ (@ 2050 Mhz)
EPOX EP-8KDA3J Nforce3 250 GB mobo
2x512MB OCZ PC3700EB RAM (3-2-3-10 @ 230)
Leadtek GeForce 2 MX SH MAX

Low quality / 640x480 / all video options OFF = 17.6 fps

Low quality / 640x480 / all options ON (execpt AA) = 7.8 fps

You disabled shadows?

Your scores seem very low considering your hardware.

In any event, my 9700PRO scores over 44FPS in the timedemo at 1024, and that's at high settings with everything enabled. I'm using the 4.9b driver. Even with the 4.7 drivers I was getting over 40FPS.

My 9700PRO is running at 350/340 with no artifacts. This shouldn't account for such a large performance delta though.

Ugh, every time I start Doom 3, it's reverting to 640*480, dunno what quality, with no AA. What the heck. :|

Yes, I did. What of it?

Unless you think all shadows are disabled, in which case you're sorely mistaken.

Are you running 16x AF?

What shadows did you disable?

I'm running in high quality mode which forces 8XAF; whether it's "quality" or "performance" mode I'm not sure. I'm guessing it's "quality" because Carmack is anal like that. In any event, the performance drop from going from 8XAF to 16X is very minimal.

Anyhow, I didn't disable any options and I'm benching ~20% higher than you with the same hardware. I just thought I would let you know in case there is something you can tweak up to make it faster.

You should definately try out the 4.9b driver; it gave me a 10% boost. I guess the other 10% may have come from overclocking and maybe even my CPU performance.

Hmmm using a Dell PowerEdge 400SC, So no over clocking..

3.0C, 1.5Gig RAM, 6800GT PNY.

1280X1024 HQ 48Frames Rendered in 37.5 Sec, = 56.8 FPS

1280X1024 Ultra HQ 48Frames Rendered in 37.5 Sec, = 57.3 FPS

Funny the Frame rate went up a bit on Ultra from High. Figured it wasn't worth it to try the lower levels unless anyone wants to know?

So, This is pretty good for stock levels. I am using a dell 18.1" ultrashorp LCD so I can't go any higher then 1280X1024. The game plays well on this system!

Have you looked in the video options section?

I'm guessing it's "quality" because Carmack is anal like that.
It has nothing to do with Carmack and everything to do with your control panel.

Anyhow, I didn't disable any options and I'm benching ~20% higher than you with the same hardware.
What is your hardware? What overclocks?

The rig: Athlon 3200+/1GB/128MB 5900NU at stock/WinXP SP1/61.77 drivers

Doom settings: 1024x768/Ultra Quality/everything one but AA plus my shadow's on

The punchline: 26.9 fps

For kicks, I tried the Ultra setting though it's supposed to be too much for any mortal video card but it's actually playable and looks great.

Supafly... you must have figured out something I haven't figured out.

Dell C840
P4-M 2GhZ
Geforce4 440 Go 64Mb
640 Mb of PC2100

Doom3 - The menu screen is a freaking slideshow.

I'm running the latest BIOS, Forceware 61.77 drivers, Intel's latest chipset drivers.

What gives?

That's a bummer. Laptops arn't going to play this game well sadly. But would be fun to take it on the road if one were on the road. I guess it's time to upgrade. Prob most likly the vid card.

Just an update after plunking a PNY 6800GT clocked 400/1000 into the above rig:

1024 rez/Ultra/No AA = 46.2 fps (72% faster!)

1024 rez/High/4x AA = 45.5 fps (69%)

1024 rez/Ultra/4x AA = 41.7 fps (55%)

1280 rez/High/4x AA = 33.4 fps (24%)

1280 rez/Ultra/4x AA = 31.7 fps (18%)

Allowing that you appear to be running at "Untextured Polys" LOD, how the heck are you getting DOUBLE the speed with essentially the same rig as mine, other than the drivers?!?!?
