How to update driver for 32-bit Emachine m5405

I just updated my old Emachine M5405 to windows 8 it works great!! but alot of the drivers aren't installed or im running into problems because my computer doesn't have wifi and when i plug in my ethernet cable dosnt recognize any networks. my speakers dont work either any advice for me?

Gateway does not cover future OS drivers on the page for that machine, so I would recommend you go to this page:

and Google the parts you need drivers for.

I would recommend an internet driver first (Ethernet or wifi) so that you can get Windows update working, and let it find what it cane for you.

If you have a wireless router, another option is to pick up a cheapo USB wireless adapter. Once you have connectivity, with luck Win8 will pick up the drivers you need from Windows update.

i tried but the only driver i can find for emachines m5405 is an xp driver i downloaded it and tried to use it with no luck

You can also look up the hardware IDs for your unknown devices in Device Manager. Query the hardware IDs via Google to find out which one is the Ethernet chipset. Once you know the model of Ethernet port, you should be able to download a driver from the Internet.

Looking at the M5405 support page, it appears that the chipset should be Broadcom, though it doesn't specify the model. If that is the case and you can determine the model number from the hardware ID, you can download the drivers direct from the Broadcom website.
