How to upgrade this system?

What should I replace and what can I salvage?
How much will I have to spend?
What should I charge for parts I am getting rid of?

I am thinking of a switch to AMD but don't know whether to wait for AMD760 or not. What's the most cost-effective upgrade, i.e. most incremental performance for least money. Excel, Access, Q3A, UT, web, maybe photo/sound/video editing in the next year:

PIII700 FC-PGA cA2 @ 805Mhz retail
Soyo 6BA+IV
generic (?) slocket
256MB Mitsubishi PC133 RAM
Asus V6800 DDR
IBM 20.5GB ATA66
Creative 52X CDROM
SB Live Value
ACS 45.2
Samsung 900NF
Logitech mouse
Aopen keyboard

Thanks.

Personally I would look to get a new motherboard based on the Intel 815e chipset, (either a Asus CUSL2 or MSI 815ePro) and see if you can hit 933 MHz with your processor.

Personally I would wait for the 760 and DDR because your machine looks good for what you are doing. I would stick it out and see about DDR

Thanks for the suggestions. I believe I may as well keep it as is rather than get an i815E board. My cA2 won't O/C past 820. When the price of a PIII800 drops below C$250, I may get one and a PEP66 or try to push my PIII700 farther. It will probably take months for the 760 chipset to get debugged so I guess I'm with Intel until towards the end of 2001.

After some more burning it, it will get farther, just keep trying. Go ahead the get the alpha pep66 now, that thing got me an extra 150+ mhz overclock

Before you start throwing your money around, ask yourself: What do you expect to achieve? 100 FPS instead of 90? Faster Excel recalcs? A New Web Experience(TM)?

After having realized that you have nothing to achieve from this upgrade, you'll come to the only logical conclusion, and send that upgrade money to me

Seriously, sit your a$$ down and play with what you got.
