I ate six Big Macs in the past 24 hours. My body has given up on me. Someone put me out of my misery.

My toe hurts like hell.

I stubbed it mid-June, could barely walk for a week, then it gradually got better over the next week or two. Thought it was completely healed, but then I felt a twinge when I was out hiking the other night. Didn't bother me, but it worried me. Was a tad sore but otherwise ok yesterday. Got up today and I'm having a hard time walking and navigating stairs again.

Today sucked. Worked 11 hours trying to make up for being short two people plus Friday is the only day the military can do anything. Had a birthday party, quarterly awards, kids day, trivia contest and, first Friday celebration. I swear I fed every body on base today twice.

It was alright. Shitty hot and humid, but Fathead talked to me this morning, and didn't flinch when I touched him. Only took two years :^D

I had a mediocre day today. I got woken up at 6:00 AM because of a right calf muscle cramp. That was most unpleasant. Finally fell back to sleep and woke up at 9:00AM.

Forgot to have lunch. Work called and gave me the day off but I have to work Saturday. Rib-Fest started Thursday and the GF wanted to go there Saturday, so that was an issue. I bought a few racks of back ribs so I told her I would make some ribs for us on Sunday.

I went out a bought a case of craft beer and made 1 rack of ribs in my Instant Pot to test them out. Turned out great.

I am about to eat a chicken burger and watch something on TV.

Still TBD. As of last night, the father of our grandkids (and our bipolar druggie daughter) has consented for the youngest (14 y.o.) to stay here and live with the same family that his 18 y,o. brother is living with...and our 16 y.o. granddaughter also will be living there in a couple of weeks. That means I DON'T have to drive to CA on Sunday...

(although I WILL still have to drive down to pick up their stuff sooner or later...like before the start of school)

HOWEVER, I've been dealing with their dad long enough that I know...this could change in a minute...

So...it sounds like even though everything above is still on track, I'm going to be driving down to CA on Monday...(gawd I hate that heat!) We'll be picking up the kids' stuff from their dad's house...and PROBABLY be picking up our granddaughter and bringing her up with us.

I'll be glad to get them out of that toxic environment. Things are pretty bad there for them. (dad doesn't want them for anything beyond the welfare and food stamps he gets for them, step-mom doesn't like them...they're at the very bottom of the family pecking order...)
I HOPE this works out for them...if not...???

Since this was posted yesterday....my day yesterday almost started very, very bad.
Got up at 5:00AM and went for a run. It's dark, but I wear a head lamp. Don't wear my glasses though when I run since the sweat will just get in the way.

I see something on the sidewalk and I think it's some clear plastic wrap that had blown off a truck (it was garbage day) but it wasn't until I was right on it that I noticed what it was. A giant street lamp cover had fallen off a light and landed on the edge of the sidewalk. It sort of curled over the middle of the sidewalk and misjudged how close it was. My foot swiped against it.

Slit my shoe wide open, cut through my sock and came about 1mm from cutting right across a big vein in my foot. Downside, I shreaded open a $100 pair of running shoes that are only a couple weeks old. Upside...I didn't have to walk home or flag down a car bleeding profusely from my foot.
Have you considered wearing contact lenses

I've got a bad astigmatism. I wear some disposables for basketball, but it gets real expensive to use them daily for just running. They don't work well for daily use for me.

Plus my night vision is just shit anyway. I usually have my wife drive at night.

Then don't use disposables. If you had contacts intended to be changed every two weeks and only wore them for an hour or two a day, a pair can easily last two months. For something like $10.

"No honey I swear I have terrible night vision. You'll usually need to drive home. Its a health and safety thing. Now if you need me I'll be over at the bar since you'll always be my DD"

Well played

There's Lyft for that My night vision is just bad. And if there's any sort of precipitation then I'm essentially blind. There's something about water on the windshield plus oncoming headlights that just murders visibility for me.

Since this was posted yesterday, I'll go with that.

It was good. Parents were down visiting this weekend and my mom cooked supper (sirloin beef tips over noodles, mixed vegetables, salad, warm french bread, mother of God epic) and it was delicious. I had on-call duties this weekend for work but it wasn't too bad; probably spent about a total of 1-1.5 hrs total between Fri/Sat/Sun. Watch a bit of the Unity game development course on Udemy I have; did some preliminary work on my first mobile game I'm starting.

Overall, I'll give it a solid 7/10.

Its Monday today, so by default it sucks.

Unless I win the lotto and can quit working. In which case it would be awesome.

It's Monday but it's a civic holiday, so there's that. I'm only starting work on Thursday night so it's almost like I have another week vacation. I love shift work. Too damn hot to do anything outside though, kinda looking forward to September, that's when I'll end up getting a lot done lol.
