How well did you get along with your dorm roommate in college?

I friggin hate my roommate, just my luck I get an inconsiderate German exchange student who is pure muscle and no brain. Dude wakes up at ~3pm if not later and goes to sleep around ~3 am (thats right, he sleeps ~12 hours a night) this guy is messy and noisy. He plays his tv really loud, and studys a total of 1 hour a day if any, rest of the time he's either watching tv or on the phone with someone from Germany. This C***sucker had the nerve to take my bed and join it with his so that he could sleep with his girlfriend, and when i confronted him about it he threatened to beat me up. So how well did you get along with your roommate?

First year - we tolerated each other, but weren't friends
Second year - roomed with a friend. Weren't great friends at the end of the year.
Third year - roomed with a friend. Long story, but he would have liked to kill me if he could get away with it.
Fourth year - same roommate as second year. Got along great. Also got alone with third year roommate who lived in the same apartment building.

first year, first semester - we really didn't like each other... he was a huge redneck and I was gay. also, he listened to Will Smith. wtf is that about? :| the only good part about him was that he was often off campus for 3-4 days at a time hunting.

first year, second semester - ok guy. friend of a friend. he was kind of a slob, but he was a nice guy and we got along well enough.

second year - 10/10, would room with again. moved in with one of my best friends in college. we would have kept living together except he moved into a senior hall the next year.

third year, half of the first semester - started off ok, lived off campus with a friend and his gf. but as the semester progressed, he got crazier and crazier, eventually attacking me, after which he dropped out and his mom put him into some type of facility, supposedly.

third year, remainder - I kept living with my friend's (ex) gf, but we brought in a guy from a classified ad to help pay the rent. guy was a total sleeze ball. I've never met a dirtier person in my entire life... he somehow managed to smell worse AFTER a shower than he did before the shower. I'm also pretty sure he was a pedophile.

fourth year - 10/10. I moved in with a friend off-campus and we couldn't figure out why we hadn't lived together sooner... he and I actually lived together for 3 years after graduating, until he hooked up with a hobag and I asked him to move out because I just couldn't stand his girlfriend (now wife) anymore. we had kind of a falling out during the last couple months we lived together (mostly because I hate his girlfriend, she hates me, and she practically moved herself into our apartment). we've got a good relationship now, though, since I don't have to see his baby momma every day.

currently - living alone ftw. I've gotten really used to being able to just walk around my apartment naked whenever I want to

thats nothing. my first year in RIT i had a really really bad roomate. nearly drove out of school.

he would masturbate all the time. NO matter if i was IN the room or not. Also he would never change his sheets and had a crusty towel that was always on the bed. I had taken a old TV i had. he would rent porn movies all the time and watch them all the time.

it was fricken nasty.

Well it was double the price of a regular dorm, but I didn't pay shiz. Scholarships and financial aid FTW

1st year: lived in a suite with 4 guys (two bedrooms). Good friends with the one I shared the bedroom with, not in touch with others (they were douches)
2nd year: lived with a friend of a friend in an off campus apartment. Became good friends with him as well.
3rd year: single, but slept over at my girlfriends single half the time and vice-versa
4th year: same as above, but GF had an apt that year

I roomed with someone I knew from highschool. Spent 2 years in the dorms with him, then 2 years in an apartment, now my 2nd year in a townhouse. So yeah, ive lived with him for 6 years, so id say pretty well.

1st year: guy was crazy lazy, the whole year we were there, he did his laundry maybe 4 times. Not to mention he constantly has his sister over (sis is in the same school), and I kid you not, slept in the same bed most of the time. So I spent most of my first year in other people's dorm room.

2nd year: room with 3 friends, we had a blast, except my grade suffer due to the constant lan games. And the roommate that was responsible for the utilities just kept our money, so we had to kick his ass a bit after our power/water/dsl finally got cut off.

3rd year ~ graduation: living alone FTW!

I had one good roomate in my college career and thats becuase he lived with his girl friend and never stayed in the dorm.

First roomates(2 room 4 guys 1 living room) they were all assholes and one seriously wanted to beat the ****** out of me. He was this huge guy from turkey who knew nothing and was totally rich and I was infinitely smarter then him and he hated me for it.

Second - Same room setup but a bunch of the most unfreindly pot heads i ever met. They would not talk to me..instead they would just leave notes and look at me with disgust...

Third - Not that bad...he was deaf tho so it was interesting.

Well the guy always brought his gf over and he always put both beds together so they'd have more room to make the beast with two backs. I'd always have to leave the room but at least the sheets were warm once I got to go to bed when they were done and let me back in.

My roommate first year kept trying to get me to do illegal drugs. When he was sober (I'd say about 20% of the time), he was awesome. Real nice kid. The other 80% of the time he'd wake me up at 4am on a night I'd have to get up at 8 to tell me how "bugged out" he is from the shrooms he just did.

Either that or he'd wake up and play hardcore trance music at random times of the night.

He got kicked out of school because he never went to his classes.

He would tell his gay friends not to pick on me for being straight. We watched a lot of movies and made a lot of late night snack runs to Wal-Mart together. But there was one incident that really sticks in my head...

He got into doing drag shows, but promised me he'd never come to the room in drag, because he knew I didn't like it. But one time at 2:30 in the morning I was suddenly awakened from my blissful slumber by

I heard his voice through the door begging me to open up. I did and there he was in a DRESS AND A LONG BLONDE WIG, with his tiny boyfriend. They rushed in the room and slammed the door. Our drunk redneck neighbors were in the hall yelling WTF and doubtless wondering which window to toss him out of. He had come back to get a camera to immortalize the event, but it was burned into my brain better than any Polaroid. Eventually my roomie ended up calling the head RA to escort him to his car. Later the rednecks offered to kick his ass for me.

It was tempting.

Loved my roommate. She and I were perfect for each other: considerate, could talk about anything, liked to work out together, the list goes on. We were roommates for two years and aren't even really friends anymore--it's slightly sad.

My dorm roommates I liked. First semester was a random chosen guy. and Second Semester was one of my friends. For both we hardly stayed in our dorm much so didn't really have enough time to irritate each other.

Living off-campus, always have an annoying roommate. One was a chinese guy who had a broken alarm clock that would go off at 4 am and he would just snooze until he had to wake up (Around 8 am). And he made really stink food (he was from China).

One apartment was cool and everyone was cool with each other.

Then leased and sub-let an apartment with my future brother-in-law. That was a nightmare. Future Bro-in-law was a crappy roommate and left mid-contract without saying anything before hand (he was co-leasing the place with me).
One roommate would constantly burn incense that stunk!
One roommate (Tongan kid) failed to pay his car loan that his Uncle had co-signed. Uncle came over one day and beat the crap out of the nephew. I'm talking blood all over the place, soaked the bed, bloody handprints on the wall. THat kid left one night, never saw him again.
Another roommate (South American) beat up and robbed his "Friend" who was renting the room with him. Took his laptop and ran off to Guatemala...and stole my Monty Python DVD on the way out the door!

I live now with another student in an apartment both have our rooms of course but he isnt around alot. And when he is, he is dead silent. Ive always wondered what the hell he does when he is here. Weeiiird. I dont mind since he is away for weeks and even months...

EDIT: Althought its weird living in house/apartment for +1.5 years and never being in one of the rooms.

Very badly. He kept trying to get me to go to church with him. Plus he snored and woke up (noisily) at 5:00 AM every day. But he was a weightlifter and would stand around naked while picking out clothes, so it wasn't a total waste.
