I doubt it's the monitor actually.

My eyes aren't so great...i have trouble with shades...something i already know as i see things as different colors than others a lot

It better be perfect - for one summer, that was my job - to differentiate color differences that small among ceramic tiles being produced. Just one spring starting to go in one gas valve (of many) on a kiln that was a city block long could result in unacceptable differences. I was able to use a machine that read the color, but could do it by eyeball just as well as the machine. It was a great job for about 2 or 3 weeks, then it got boring and repetitious. That was one of the reasons I left ceramic engineering.

i imagine if you do that long enough you start seeing things in the tile that aren't there.

i imagine if you do that long enough you start seeing things in the tile that aren't there.

Oh, there were all sorts of fun tests I had to conduct weekly for quality control. One was soaking them in india ink, then rinsing them off, followed by checking them to see if they had absorbed any of the ink (that would be bad.)

My favorite test was analyzing bad tiles from the ends of assembly lines to determine the ratio of pre-firing chips to post-firing chips in order to see if there were areas where we could reduce the amount of waste. It was my favorite test because I got to drive the cool electric vehicle all over the plant & a large percentage of the people working on the lines, or at least a large enough number where very cute college students who had gotten those positions as summer jobs. I did a lot of visiting.

I think I could have gotten a 0 with about twice as many tiles over the same range.
