A week ago got myself an E5200 and put in my old good P5B Deluxe, have played a little with it, still no major 24h tests, but as far as went for boot keeping vcore under 1,36v was 3,8ghz but no stable with prime after about 5 min test. Now I'm on decision between two FSB 290-296x12,5 and with SPEEDSTEP enabled (for idle temps too be lower) don't know I've tried 290x12,5 for about 20min small FFT prime 95 tests stable, but on idle speedstep does not seem to work :/, maybe because of windows in clean and not all asus mobo drivers and soft are installed.. :/
Another variant is to go for FSB 345x10,5 also seem to be stable under vcore 1,33-1,36, but as far as i have tried FSB 330x11 works best for me, even the 3D Mark 06 score was the highest with that, when memory timings where very loose 5-5-5-18 it was 14510 marks, hmm still thinking if its normal or not so good. Played GTA 4 also no crashes and with highest settings at 1680x1050 (high textures, highest rendering) low FPS on 30 and max about 50, so still Q6600 rocks on GTA 4 :/ its the game where quads really matters.
But now i don't like the temperatures of this CPU, i've found people having idle of 32-35C and load 51-59C, mine is 41-44C idle and 65-70C load :/ a bit high and thats with zalman 9700 :/ tried arctic silver 5 and zalman STG1 paste but almost same effect. Intel spec 74.1C as max, so i feel uncomfortable, should I?
I used 3 programs for temps: SPEED FAN, CORE TEMP and REAL TEMP at same time. SPEED FAN always shows higher temps than core temp and real temp (exception is IDLE when -+ temps are the same), also when on test of prime 95 speed fan reported cpu temp gets stuck on 84C (even when it goes idle) !!! but at same time core temp and real temp showed 61-65C. Right from start core temp and real temp differed 5C and i noticed that real temp uses TJmax of 95 so i set 100 and now core temp and real temp are -+ even.
Maybe you guys have some advices how to lower those temps and which software to believe :/ ?
