They should've posted flood maps and evac'ed anyone in a 500 year flood plain. The rain was predicted. No reason to evac all 5+ million people. But evacuation based on risk requires too much intelligence.

I don't believe Houston even got Cat 1 winds, it's just been a rain event for them.

You are the one posting the weird image...

How does it feel to know you will be dead soon and your bavkward ideas will all be fine from society. What great value did you add to the human race?

You've got another week of chaos, my friend. This storm isn't going anywhere. Stay Frosty.

I guess my point was it's kind of early to be bitching about Trumps performance in this case.
I feel I keep having to remind people to save the anger for something important
That important moment may be flooding or something else.

FEMA and the city of Houston were woefully unprepared for this event. This is very much like what happened with Katrina and our dumb ass in chief is too busy tweeting bullshit. Notice how excited the first family is in the beginning as they are forced to return to the national dump, aka the white house, because of this situation. I fear that the majority of victims do not have flood insurance which will force them to take out SBA loans to make repairs that aren't covered by their homeowners insurance.

Pretty sure that the local governments didn't make the right call. And I'm not saying this as a Monday Morning QB. The Weather Channel had pretty much indicated that the storm would move onshore as at least a cat 3 storm, and also indicated that it would stall and possibly backtrack somewhat, which would lead most to conclude that a massive amount of rainfall would fall on the area. If you are a resident in an area expecting a Cat 3 storm or greater to hit, you should always get out. Local officials that haven't lived through these types of storms are often clueless about the devastation that will ensue.

I would *hate* to have to make one of these calls. Its like playing poker all-in without a bankroll.

What value did you add?

Exactly. Hard to do too much of anything in the middle of the storm.

By posting this message I am allready putting 100 times more effort into it than I actually care if someone is gay or not. I might care if said person is under duress, victim of a hatecrime or at odds with oneself being who he/she is. Whatever floats your boat as long as you dont hurt anyone else. Whatever.

That is how life is. Nobody comes out alive.

What value did you add?

I'll take those odds. I aint leaving

Common sense.. get these peeps to the 2nd floor rather than snap a picture.. but we have great talent on the ground. Trump said it himself so it must be true.
To be fair, my parents lived in a nursing home and there was no 2nd floor. There was a roof, but I could not fathom how you'd get folks who are wheelchair bound or bedridden to the roof without mechanical help.

A natural disaster and one of the usual suspects is swatting his boner back and forth gleefully hoping to pin something on Trump.

Be proud OP, be proud.

Well, it is ironic that you're showing concern for a natural disaster at the same time as you cheerlead for a President and party who are trying to gut federal programs that help with natural disasters.

Or how about other Republicans that wanted to leave states like NY high and dry when it came to allocating recovery funding after Sandy...

Unlike those assholes, I hope everything turns out okay for those in the storms path and I hope they get adequate relief.

I wonder if he will fight for Houston/TX rebuild money as hard as he'll push for Wall money.

Better question, how much would he fight if it were a blue state?

Hmm, and didn't some on the right push back on money for NOLA as it was a "Democratic" city?

Last I checked, automation has been responsible for 85% of job loss. That trend will likely accelerate.

Putting it off on trade deals is a Trumpian misdirection play, basically a red herring.

Better check again.

Job outsourcing is when U.S. companies hire foreign workers instead of Americans. In 2013, U.S. overseas affiliates employed 14 million workers. The four industries most affected are technology, call centers, human resources and manufacturing.

The main negative effect of outsourcing is it increases U.S. unemployment. The 14 million outsourced jobs are almost double the 7.5 million unemployed Americans. If all those jobs returned, it would be enough to also hire the 5.7 million who are working part-time but would prefer full-time positions.

Here is the key stat:
American companies send IT jobs to India and China because the skills are similar while the wages are much lower. A company only has to pay an entry-level IT worker $7,000 a year in China and $8,400 in India.

Compare that to entry IT in America of nearly $50k. America is outsourcing the most technical, highly paid and highly skilled jobs overseas. There is a reason that Asian patents are skyrocketing and American patents are plateaued. China's patent applications are now more than USA and Japan combined. If you think your country can offshore innovation to save costs on labor, you have to realize that your country will eventually fall into irrelevance as the country that is the recipient of this great gift becomes the global leader.

Chinese outsourcing is great. I got friends who manufacture in China and they are happy with it. The key is proper supervision and quality control. Nice thing about China is with labor cheap, you can hire twice as much initially and then fire bottom half of performers.
