It is still a decent card for 1080p, probably 40-60fps for many older games, newer stuff not so much. Depends on the games of course and your cpu.

You can use the Techpowerup's relative rating table to get a very rough idea on what a card can offer.

Since I used Vega 56 until last year, I can tell you the 1070Ti would be able to play older titles at 1440p and newer titles at 1080p, assuming you would be aiming for ~60FPS. IIRC I played Cyberpunk 2077 on Vega 56, medium settings, @1440p with FSR Quality (so close to 1080p internal resolution). It was not a 60 FPS experience though, just good enough to enjoy the game.

Both RX 7600 and RX 4060, which are the "cheap" modern 1080p cards, are 40% faster than the 1070Ti. The 75$ price sounds great for someone looking to play old games, and by old I mean anything launched before 2022.

I have still this card, alot games running fine. Even UE5 games can run 1080p at 60fps medium + fsr, or you can low + fsr (UE5 games doesn't have almost difference between Low and Ultra), but mostly i'm not use UE5 games due engine is very temp hungry, like avg in games 65-72 to 83C wall.
BG3 work fine. Like a Dragon Infinity Wealth, Alone in the Dark, games from 2023-24 and work fine on Ultra.

Compared to what else I can get for 75USD. RX580's are running about that on ebay.
I have 2 1070 Ti's both work fine and would crush an RX580. Nvidia refused board partners the ability to sell OC'd versions of the card.

OC'd they perform like a 1080. For gaming they are decent for 1080P and 1440P at reasonable settings. There is no DLSS or RT but they are still fine cards.

Trying to put together budget gaming systems is easy until you hit the video card part. I can get everything else for less than 200USD total. It's an EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti SC gaming which I think it a good one to get. Their website says there is an overclocking utility.

Well, you can OC all cards with MSI afterburner.

Can't go wrong for $75 so long as you know what you are getting. You mention "in 2024" and in 2024 the 1070ti is similar in performance to a bottom end gaming LAPTOP with a 4050 in it. So "in 2024" a 1070ti is not the monster it once was. My $750 lower mid range RX7700S laptop beats a 1070ti easily.

OTOH for a super cheap gaming rig the 1070ti is about as good as it gets for $75.

One of mine is a Zotac AMP! edition. If you download their version of Afterburner (Firestorm) there is an OC file with it that can loaded up to OC the card.

Plus they are still supported by the latest Nvidia drivers.

It comes down to price.
For this price:

You would be far better off with an RTX 4070 Super:

I can't believe in 2024 they are still getting $599 for these old cards...

Well just found a local seller this morning and picked up these for 300USD. I might still get the GTX 1070Ti but the seller was out of town.

MSI GamingX GTX 1080Ti 11gb
EVGA GTX 1080 8gb

Charging 599 not sure if they are getting it. Yeah if you look at newegg there are listings for 10 year old cards selling for hundreds of dollars.

I almost want to message them and ask if they are delusional.

EVGA GTX 1080 8gb
Gigabyte Gaming OC RX 5700 XT 8gb
Edit:
The 5700 is sits between a 1070 and a 1080ti depending on which site you check.

That 1080ti might beat my laptop!

The 5700 is roughly equivalent to a 1070.

For the price really can't beat any of these cards. 100 dollars is max budget for the builds. You can't get anything new for that price. Got tired of the ebay mess too.

5700 and 5700XT are about on par with 1080Ti and 2070(super). They are a lot faster than a 1070. Maybe you are thinking of Vega 56?

All 3 are still more than capable of 1080p gaming. If you trust Techpowerup 1080 Ti = 2070 Super RX5700 XT = 3060/2070 The 1080 is a bit slower.

Since you are going to have 3 or 4 cards maybe you could bench them yourself?
That's the plan. Just have to find the time and decide on the test bed. I have a z240 with an i7-6700 but I think that might be a bottleneck. I would have to upgrade the PSU too. My other choices would be an E5-2690 v2 or E5-2697 v2 or an E5-2690 v4. I'm curious to do some benchmarks with the dual CPU z840 but not gotten a chance to get that up and running.

That roughly equals stuff is just wrong. The TPU performance ratings chart is of very limited utility IME. The reality is as the months pass, it's more and more a box of chocolates. Lack of driver optimizations alone, for older cards from both vendors, also skews the performance rankings. Even if we disregard features sets, vram differences, and test runs shorter than an OG TikTok vid, that underlie the rankings.

A couple of quick examples- Vega56/64 are broken in Alan Walks 2. Older Nvidia cards such as the 980ti are broken in games like Guardians of the Galaxy with newer drivers. Of course there are other factors consider, such as the extra Nvidia driver overhead that is more impactful on those old Xeons and i7s.

Unsolicited opinion aside; You got a good haul of cards for $100 each.
