For OT & P/N it'd be the equivalent of finally flushing the toilet after a long buildup. It would be annoying for most of the other forums though since there would be useful information that'd be lost.
Would not bother me one bit, in fact I think a clean slate could be nice. The loss of technical data would maybe be annoying, but anything that I find useful I usually store on my own servers anyway, such as links to useful sites or what not.
I'd be sad. A lot of the early days of my courtship with my husband is contained in posts and PMs on here, as are the early days of interactions with people who became some of my best friends later on in life.
Highly unrealistic, even if an F5 tornado smashed the severs to dust, they probably have disaster contingencies in place for off site backups,. Anandtech would be back up in a few weeks or less,
My first two forums, which were instrumental in shaping my adolescent development, both went through multiple software changes and hosting issues, which means that ~25,000 posts and three precious years of my life are effectively gone. Take away Anandtech Forums, and I have no reason to live.
Wouldn't care, I don't browse old threads that often anyway.
Also I never post on the technical forums so no loss of info for me, as long as the good people remain so I can just ask, in case I'll ever do something new again.
This. When it was down yesterday it was a huge blessing. The current wave of trolls really makes me wonder why I bother with OT at all. My first few years here I avoided OT, but it was kind of fun at first. Now it is going through the motions and seeing how dumb people can be, or how racist posters can be without being called out on it.
