Well, order was placed and have a number to track online. Went with 3LT as the car felt much cooler inside compared to the black dash cars. Suede inserts should also help with the heat and hopefully not frying my wife's legs during the summer.

2015 Z51 coupe Torch red Kalahari
3LT - package
ERI - Battery Run Down Protection
J6F - Red Brakes
FE4 - Magnetic Suspension
IL6 - Suede Seat Inserts
Q7T - Black Rims

Now the wait begins.

Now the question is... What will your first mod be...

No mods yet besides tinted windows and paint protection. I may do a supercharger and headers down the road, but I learned my lesson on modding a car under warranty.

That's interesting. Makes me want the PDR. If only it weren't $1750 extra (or I really had a use for it other than it being a cool toy)!

I respect other people's builds, but how would you buy this car without the magnetic ride suspension? Seriously, that would be a MUST on this car, IMHO.

Because GM is being greedy and they will not un-bundle it from the Z51 package. That makes it almost $7K if you just want magnetic ride. I agree with you that it should be mandatory, but I think $7K is too much so I can understand both sides.

The Chevrolet SS sedan is getting magnetic ride standard in 2015. That car will be <$50k, but for the more expensive higher performance Corvette it is a option... Does not compute.

Where are you getting this $7k number from?

It's a $1795 option on the Z51 package.

It's a $1700 option from what I can tell.

It is a $1700 option on top of the $5000 Z51 package.
It is not available on non Z51 cars. If you could add it to the base car for $1700 I think that would be fine.
I'm sure GM is selling more Z51 cars just for people to get magnetic ride.

The Z51 package is $4000.

Those seeking serious performance will ge a Z06 anyway.

3LT with performance package, white exterior, red interior. I think all the things people are adding on are tacky and take away from the car. The car in white is very appealing. Very exotic like a previous poster said.

But, I'd never buy a corvette anyway.

It's actually $5000 for 2015 but they have bundled the NPP performance exhaust with the Z51 package. NPP was previously $1200, so if you wanted it and Z51 it's cheaper now.

Do agree with the other posters though, mag ride should be available on the base car. They probably just had too many suspension variants. In any case, the Z51 package is worth the coin to me. Perhaps if I like it enough I'll pick up a Z06 down the road, after supply catches up and others beta test them for me.

With the base C6, you couldn't get the mag ride if you opted for Z51. It was one or the other and not both. So I don't see why they couldn't offer it as standalone like in the past. I always felt Z51 option was under priced by GM. I guess GM felt the same and corrected it by raising the price. I'm not too hot on NPP exhaust being bundled with Z51. I'm sure most people who opt for Z51 would've gotten the NPP exhaust as well, but I liked it as a separate option. I personally like the quieter stock exhaust.

Most Corvette buyers will opt for the 3LT, Z51, and magnetic ride suspension. It's easy to see why base C7 will approach $70k.

I think the shift with the mag ride went from being a "comfort" feature with the C5 and early C6, to a "performance" part with the ZR1, CTS-V and then on the Grandsport, Z06 and ZL1. This generation, it looks like they are reserving it for only the performance versions like the CTS V-Sport, higher end ATS, Z51 and Z06.

Mag ride suspension is awesome technology. I wouldn't buy another new Corvette without it. My concern and the reason I didn't get it for the C6 was that I was worried about the durability and the cost of replacement of the shocks. Turns out the concern was unfounded. Mag ride shocks are extremely durable and last 100k+ miles easily. Given that I've driven the C6 ~7k miles total in 7 years, the mag ride would've lasted over 100 years.

I wasn't sure about the white either, but I just saw one tonight coming while walking back to my car after coming out of the market, and it looked pretty darn good. Maybe still not my first choice in colors, but I'd have to say it looked way better than I had originally thought it would.

And yeah, magnetic suspension is a must have imho.

I went with the 1LT trim, black interior, Z51, mag ride (it's awesome), performance exhaust (freaking awesome), Laguna Blue paint, and black rims.

12 weeks from order to delivery, although I went with a dealer who was like 7-8 on the list of most allocations for 2014's. There were also at least two weeks where GM didn't accept any orders. I've had it for about three months and I drive it nearly everywhere.

KentState, I wouldn't spend the money on the battery charger. You can purchase the unbranded version for half the cost.

If you decide to purchase an extended warranty, there's a dealer on the Corvette Forum who has very good prices on them.

Some times I wish I went with the 2LT interior for the cooled seats and the HUD. The memory seat function would be nice too but there were a ton of complaints about it not working with the manual transmission option, so I probably wouldn't miss it. 90% of the time I'm glad I saved the $4000.

Performance exhaust is a must have. If the cars without it sounds like mine does when it's in Tour mode, it's incredibly bland. Dial it over to S or Tr and it sounds like a sportscar.

The car gets a ton of attention. Lots of people taking pictures, asking questions when I'm stopped somewhere. I haven't seen another on the road in my area, almost every Chevy dealer has one in the showroom and that's the only place I've seen them around here.

That sound's like a great build. I have seen a few on the road recently and they look better in person, IMHO. Look amazing.

With the employee discount, the price difference is minimal. The same thing applies to the GMPP. I can get it for less than Fichtner can sell them. I doubt I will do it because I will either modify the car or sell it in 3 years.

I'm waffling between 2LZ + nav and 3LZ + Z07 (as well as the required option to get z07 of course)
