Howard Stern Lashes Out at Some Fans

I really don't care if no one else joins. I know that I love listening to the show and I don't mind paying 50 cents a day to listen. (plus I drive 2 hours a day, so its great having the NFL, NBA, NASCAR, Stern, Playboy Maxim, etc..)

I don't mind howard one way or another, but think he should be delighted as many followed as they did. Most people aren't going to pay for radio, not when the other radio is free. Sure you have to listen to commercials, but I think the listeners are used to that. If I'm listening to the radio in the car and commercials come on, sometimes it gives me time to flip thru to the other dozen stations. Also of those 3.4 million that someone said joined up, is howard the cause of 100% of them.

I would say the vast majority of them are. By that I don't necessarily mean that they joined to listen to him but all the talk about him going to Sirius and the discussions about what Sirius has to offer in the form of Talk Shows, Music and Sports that resulted from Stern's jump to Sirius was great advertising and opened a lot of peoples eyes to that service. It probably helped XM too.

Did anyone (including Stern) think that 12 million people would move over to Sirrius in such a short amount of time?

Sounds to me like he was lamenting and when read in this context it seems worse than it really is. I've listened to Stern for 10+ years (haven't made the switch because of their choices of radios) and I can picture him saying what he said in a half-serious manner. Anyone who takes those words as a stern (intended) lashing probably isn't a fan.
