Well this is about hypocrisy and it's not a good thing to pick. The NRA will allow guns when the SS permits them, and that's when the VP isn't around. It wasn't the NRA's call, and it would only have been hypocrisy if they then didn't allow guns.
Common sense is not a common thing anymore, unfortunately. This isn't even a new whine, just a copy/paste from the last time some loon actually thought this sort of thing was some kind of 'gotcha'.

So . . . federal buildings are gun free zones for safety reasons, but the NRA...
"...Blather blather foam at the mouth blather...."

How do people get this fucking stupid? Federal buildings AREN'T 'gun free' zones in that there aren't guns around. There are plenty of guns in federal buildings. They are carried by the security guards there for the protection of everyone inside.

Why is the real world so fucking hard to figure out for some basement dwelling shitheads?

As dumb as this administration is, some of its detractors go above and beyond out of their way to prove they are FAR dumber, and 1000x more dense. I'd say you'd have to work at that, except it just comes naturally to some!

Oh, my . . . such vitriol! Didja' get any on you?

I think we'd all be safer if you were required to pass a background check before loading up and shooting off your mouth, bump stock boy.

no shit sherlock. We understand that authorized authority figures can have guns in these zones. Just like the SS will have them at the NRA convention where everyone else is banned. You know. good guys with guns and all.

Do you really need these things spelled out for you?

You can save some typing and just skip to the insults.

Ummmm. You know it’s the secret service who has complete and total authority over this and not the NRA right? It’s codified into law.

They want the VP there they need to adhere to the secret services wishes on security.
The issue here is that when other institutions do the same thing (control their own security), even when similarly codified in laws (like schools), the NRA rails against them as dangerous and unsafe gun free zones.

A valid criticism, but much is focused on the NRA banning guns which never was the case. I'd rather see your point raised outside the context of a thread based on unfactual statements.

While not the best example of hypocrisy, it does blow a hole (pun intended) in the "more guns is always safer" argument. You'd think the Secret Service would want more guns in the crowd if this was the case.

The business of the Secret Service is not engaging in debates about gun ownership nor whether they are valid. The SS has a specific protocol to follow and it abides by it. If they thought it was more dangerous for there to be guns they wouldn't be any. If they thought the VP was safer then there wouldn't be any guns there. This is a security scenario and control is paramount to that kind of operation. They don't do posses

In other words it's not okay to risk the life of Mike Pence by having random people running around with guns, but it's perfectly fine to risk the lives of small children. I see who this country values more.

My grade school age daughter came home last week and told me about how they were taught to run in a zig zag pattern towards the fence in case someone started shooting them at recess. I guess it's better she have to do that than gun nuts be slightly inconvenienced in anything related to their weird hobby.

As far as the Secret Service is concerned that is true. Now tell me how the NRA can force the Secret Service to leave. I suppose they could use guns but that's not going to end well.

I understand the emotional response but it's also a core reason why your daughter is zig zagging. There's no honest and rational broker that makes decisions.

This is true, yet some people try to twist the truth into lies, and then spread them. Claiming that the NRA banned guns there is silly, yet MSM spread that lie. Got caught, and deleted the tweet. Then finally retweeted something accurate

"NRA members can bring their guns during most of the annual meeting in Dallas – but not while Trump and Pence are speaking. The Secret Service has barred them during their speeches."

The only time people can't have guns is when Trump and Pence are speaking. This has nothing to do with the NRA. With the fondness of Dems shooting Repubs, maybe not a bad idea. Speaking of hypocrisy, wondering why the same people who (wrongly) claim that here, don't do the same to celebrities who can actually control if their body guards have them or not. Yet they lament over extreme gun control. But I already know that answer, leftist hypocrisy.

It is pretty telling when people will spread lies, and think that because someone carries a gun that they can't be a good guy. Says a lot about that person, and it's not good.

Right, that is the hypocrisy. The Secret Service knows full well that access to guns is too dangerous to allow in the hands of people in general, and the politicians they protect know this, that is why they allow them to continue with the practice of restricting guns. If the politicians really felt that more people with guns made you safer they could, and damn well would, change the law to make themselves safer.

Now tell me how the NRA can force the Secret Service to leave. I suppose they could use guns but that's not going to end well.

All they would have to do is tell Pence that if his presence means they can't have their guns then he is not welcome.

What's the quotation? I will paraphrase it. If someone can come up with the actual quote, I thank you:

It can be virtually impossible to convince someone of a truth if it is in opposition to the source of their income.

Edit: Ah, I searched and found it:

Upton Sinclair — 'It is difficult to get a man to understand something, when his salary depends on his not understanding it.'

A lot of people probably want this guy dead, a VP of the US and that is sufficient reason whether we like him or not.

if a lot of people want him dead, I thought the answer was more good guys with guns? I thought if you took guns away from everyone, only the bad guys will have guns.

:confused;
