I had to return a defective stick of Kingston (PC2100) Value RAM this week. The replacement works fine. I don't like the idea of nameless silicon on the modules.
. They at least used to use name brand silicon they were proud to display. And when they had to make their own modules, they assembled a lot of them here in the US.
. The one I had to return and its replacement were assembled in China... I used to occasionally find 100% Samsung modules in Kingston packages. But when the stuff is $10. AR, ...
. For consistently reliable, go with 100% Samsung, Crucial or reputable boutique stuff: Mushkin, Corsair, etc.
