How's the Audigy / AMD / XP combo working now??

I'm very unimformed in the audio card scene now. I remember reading about issues with Audigy on AMD cpus.

Is this still the case? Or have all the problems been ironed out.

My setup:
WinXP
AthlonXP 1600+ (@1750mhz)
Shuttle AK35GT2 mobo
1.5 gig Mushkin 2700DDR RAM


I'm just using on-board sound now, but I can get an Audigy dirt cheap. Figured I'd get some input before doing it. If you have an audigy on an AMD / WinXP rig, let me know how it is and what things I'll have to do...

I had an Audigy, Athlon XP, Windows XP, combo before I upgraded to my curent Pentium 4 system. I had no issues that I can remember. I even had it running on a VIA chipset.

I have no problems, but I'm running an ALi Magik1 (c0 stepping) chipset.

My XP/Audigy/VIA setup is working great,11 months now with the Audigy installed, 0 problems .

Best way is clean install of sound drivers(clean install of OS) and use a PCI slot that does not share with another.

I think the question should be "how's the Audigy/VIA combo working right now?". AMD and the Athlon XP CPU's, doesn't seem to have problems with Creative labs sound cards when using other chipsets such as AMD's own 760 series, nforce and SIS chipsets. The majority of the problems seem to stem from using VIA chipsets. Although there are also success stories with VIA/Audigy combo's, more problems are associated with this combo more than any other.

I have had no problems on my audigy platinum/XP Pro/AthlonXP/VIA setup with the exception of WinDVD - with the initial Audigy drivers I would get a cracking sound playing DVDs, PowerDVD fixed that, although I just installed the newest Audigy drivers and tried WinDVD again - no cracks. I'm loving the sound...

I have a SB Audigy Gamer, AthlonXP 1800+, VIAKT266A chipset, and windows XP and I do not have any problems. Sounds great =)

I've had my audigy system in 2 different amd athlon classic & amd athlon XP pc's... worked great in both!

i have a 1600+, xp, 8k3a, and an audigy and i had some problems installing the card. i eventually got it working. there were issues with i'm assuming the pci slot i put it in, but i guess its alright now thats its working.
