Hows the sound on today's PDAs?

Hey guys,

Just curious to get some feedback. It seems todays crop of Pocket PC's (with the possibility of Palms) are able to double up as MP3 players, I've even heard tell that some people have gone for a run or worked out with their PDA's pumping tunes into their ear drums. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

What Im trying to do here is purchase a Pocket PC, set it up on my network, hook it up to some external speakers and pump out tunes from my systems hard drive and I wanted to know what kind of sound I would be getting. (and if anyone knows if its practical to play tunes over a Pocket PC's network neighborhood, that would be useful too) . Thanks guys.

Sound is great through the headphones on my iPAQ. The speaker is loud but "tinny" IMHO. I also got this new proggy that allows me to control the BASS with windows media player. AWESOME!!

I would have to agree with NFS4. The sound through headphones is excellent, just don't try listening to MP3s with the speaker.

What is this proggy you are talking about? I am disappointed with the sound quality of the iPaq, anything to help improve the sound quality would be helpful. I had a minidisc player, so this is a step down. I am using my iPaq as a temp solution for portable music, going back to MD soon.

Thanks for the tips guys! Do you think it would be a problem if I hooked up a creative labs speaker system to the iPaq for MP3 output? Or for that matter, would you recommend a particular type of speaker system to put in place?

You can hook up any speakers you like to the iPAQ. It doesn't care
