How's this idea for a short film?

We've just wrapped production on "Sharks" so I'm brainstorming for a new short film idea... What do you guys think of this?

"Secret Ingredient" by Sam Sundaram Jr.
Apx. Length: 5 minutes

The story begins early on a Sunday morning. Bob, a 30-year old male,
is shocked when his girlfriend, Linda, comes home early from a
business trip. Linda is tired and hungry and runs to the freezer to
enjoy her favorite treat- chocolate ice cream. An empty container
triggers a very serious, high intensity domestic dispute between the
couple. Eventually, Linda's frustration grows into a jealous rage
when she realizes that Bob hates chocolate ice cream- she has
paranoia fueled visions of Bob sensuously feeding another woman her
chocolate ice cream. Eventually, after Bob admits that he fed the
ice cream to another woman since Linda never has anytime for ice
cream anymore, Linda violently attacks and slaughter's Bob and grinds
his body up. She uses his remains to make a fresh batch of ice cream
and then, via AOL instant messenger, invites Bob's mistress over to
try a tasty new flavor of ice cream? The tone I'm going for is
Kubrick meets John Waters.

I've got an idea for a short film. I'll grab a handycam and my spare computer, and set it to auto-refresh the main ATOT page for a week. The funny part will be not seeing any threads about short films on that page during that time span. What do you think?

there are a million threads about helping someone pick a digicam or talking how hot jessica alba is.. just ignore my threads if they bother you..

Uhhhhh...no.

The shorter the film, the more clever you need to be. That idea is not really clever.

i also think its kinda lame. i, personally have always been fascinated by two concepts:

1) national identity and what one would do in a time of war (like i heard some German Americans were traitors do the U.S. during WWII). I'm not talking about an action flick, or something historical (it should be contemporary) but one that would dwell into the mindset one would have if they were to attack their "motherland." What were their emotions, feelings, sense of loyalties and to whom, it would be a slow, but interesting movie imho. particularly if they still had direct relatives living there. e.g. a Mexican American that has family in Mexico, he is an airforce pilot in the U.S. military and is ordered to go fight in Mexico, bombing his people. I think this film would be particularly relevant with children of 'recent' immigrants.

2) A racist encounter between two long lost separated relatives. One is "black," one is "white." The white guy is a skinhead or something and doesn't realize that the "black" guy is his blood cousin because there was a split in the family somewhere down the road. The white guy attacks the black guy and his family, gets a gang of other racist whites to attack them (he is the main antagonist against the black guy), then, somewhere down the line (maybe his grandma dies and he's flipping through photo albums or something) discovers that the black guy is his cousin. He contemplates his wrondoings and rethinks his life and racism. Now he got his black relatives in trouble with the other racists, he has to go and fight with them against his old friends.

When my friend went to BU for film school one of his projects was to "film a process". Some people made films out of making food, or cleaning things, or other everyday processes.

His film "process" was burning a corpse and the film consisted of him dragging a body out of a house, digging a hole, pouring gas on the body, and then burning it.

Pretty awesome stuff.

Unless the finished script has absolutely no element of the concept in it, I don't see it getting any better.

How about Bob just points to Linda's fat ass and explains that's where the missing ice cream is.

What are you talking about? I haven't reused one theme - my first short was about a poser picking up a girl, my 2nd was about two women conning a guy and this one's about a girl making ice cream out of her cheating boyfriend..

Shymalan's from the same village as my dad, I believe (and my sister has met him)... Though, I hope to eventually be better than him, not the next him

As long as you have tons of singing and dancing you will be a hit.
