HTT Frequency 3x
CPU Freq. 265MHz
Mem Freq. 133MHz
Vcore set to +.075V (CPU-Z says as high as 1.552V, a bit high I know)

2385.1MHz
265MHz HTT
170.4MHz DDR

1T, cas 2.5, Trcd 3, Tras 8, Trp 3 - Still working on memory.

Anyone see room for improvement? 270MHz cpu freq fails to boot at all, and I don't really want to take my Vcore up anymore on stock cooling. Getting ready to see if these settings will (quick)prime. Anyone know of a good temp monitoring progie for the 9NPA+ Ultra? Epox's USDM doesn't seem to support it.

With that much voltage, you should be able to go higher. Drop the RAM to 2T for now (you can tweak it later; start off with the CPU).

What are temperatures like and what cooling are you using (stock/aftermarket)? What kind or memory do you have? With any generic PC3200 you should be able to do 200 MHz @ stock timings @ 2T, so you should be able to leave your memory at the 133 MHz ratio and just keep upping the FSB.

Also, put one or two more notches above stock into your chipset voltage, since you're already well past 250 MHz HTT and want to isolate the CPU form all other variables.

well she primed (15 mins, priority 10), passed 3dmark2001 and 2005. I thought it was bad for the Venice to go over 1.6V? After the prime run I soft booted and bios read 42C, that means it had a few seconds to cool down, but still... I don't have anything to monitor temps from Windows yet. CPU-Z is now reading 1.564V as I type. I'm using the stock retail cooling btw. is 1.6V not my limit here?

EDIT: Using Samsung PC3200 memory. Not sure what its rated exactly.

EDIT 2: Just noticed you said chipset voltage, not Vcore... Whats a safe level for that? I haven't done anything with chipset voltage as of yet.

It might help if you post a bit more about what hardware you are running: MB, RAM, CPU, Powersupply, Graphics Card, etc.

Yeah, I can do that Epox 9NPA+ Ultra, 2x512 Samsung pc3200, Venice 3000+, stock retail coolin, ATI X800 256MB PCIe, Antec 350W TruePower SL350 (20 pin, replaceing soon, so far no power probs) Audigy 2 Value, 2 optical drives, and a WD ATA100 80GB 7200RPM 8MB cache HDD. Bout it.

Jiffylube: Managed to get HTT to quickprime at 280, thats with +.05V. HTT 290 would boot, but wouldn't prime, or run 3DM2K1 very long. Still haven't bumped up the chipset voltage yet. 280/x9/166/x3 doesn't seem too shabby atm ~720MHz more that I didn't have a few hours ago.

Venice cores run at 2.7ghz or so with a good aftermarket fan, so I see room for improvement even with stock cooling. A tip though, get a Zalman something-cu (dont remember name), its the best fan to get and will allow you to get 2.7ghz easy. Another thing, your power supply and memory (maybe) might be holding you back. Look at something along the lines of 420W + just to be on the safe side so you dont blow up your new cpu.

I would either say it's the power supply, 1t vs. 2t, or just a bum chip. And btw not all Venices are doing 2.7 "easily" anymore. A lot of newer E6 ones (like mine) takes 1.55-1.6 vcore to even get to 2500 mhz. You should be happy with anything around 2.4-2.5

Ok, primed all night long (about 8 hours) at 275HTT, 2475.3MHz. 280HTT would only prime for an hour or so. I'm sure somthing is holding me back at this point, however for ~$140 2475MHz isn't bad

Now, from what I've read core clock is king on these chips. Is that true, or would you give up some MHz to get your mem closer to 200MHz? Currently mine is running 176.8MHz

you don't have to use priority 10 on prime95, the only thing is when its on a lower priority, if you use the computer, prime may share the cpu with whatever your doing

I set it to 10 before I went to bed to really stress it, I wasn't going to be using it anyway

I'd really like to see 2.7GHz, but I'm not sure if its going to happen yet. Perhaps better memory, PSU, and a better HS/F to give me that warm fuzzy feeling.

How much voltage did you use? 1.55V? If so that that's decent. What are your temperatures like at load?

1.575V or 1.60V could help you get to 280HTT (and up) but only do it if you have good cooling.

I have an XP-90 and with my 3000+ @ 2.6 Ghz, 1.6V load temp is only 43C; on stock it was about 55C (which I wasn't comfortable with!).

Not all Venice chips do 2.7 Ghz, especially newer E6 chips, some of which reportedly max out around 2.4 Ghz. Also, the Zalman 7000Cu and 7700Cu's aren't as good as the XP-90 (or XP-90C for that matter). The Zalman 9500 is good but it costs $80, and if you're going to spend around that much the thermaltake typhoon is a better cooler than the Zalman 9500.

Personally, I'd just pick up an XP-90 (non copper). It's lightweight, puts much less stress on the socket, and cools very well.

Nice o/c so far cfrage - keep it going. Your divider (133 Mhz) should be fine for up to 300 HTT since at 300HTT it's 200 MHz, but because the HTT is so high, it might need a bit more voltage.

I'd increase your RAM voltage (to about 2.7), the chipset voltage +.1 or +.2, and keep using 1.55Vcore. If you get better cooling, you should be safe up to 1.60V.

Going to order an XP-90 next week, also planing on getting two 1Gig ram sticks to give me 2GB, I don't want to use 4x512. What ram would y'all suggest? Also plan on getting a better PSU with native 24 pin plug (though I haven't had any power probs as of yet). Thanks for the tips Jiffylube and all others. I have to say, this system is much more of a step up from my Barton 2500 running at 2.2GHz then I expected.

Trying 280HTT right now, 290 just doesn't seem to work. Vdimm is at 2.8V, chipset 1.6V, VCore ~1.5 - 1.55, mem set to 1T, cas 2.5, Trcd 3, Tras 8, Trp 3.

Well, just looked over at my main pc and she's locked, so I guess 280 is going to be trouble too.

280 wouldn't prime but 278 is... Anyway, that gives me 2.5GHz so pretty happy none the less.
