Judging from your choices of cases and other hardware I would assume that money isn't really an issue Keeping that assumption in mind, if I were in your position I would pay a little extra for an IBM 45gig 75gxp hard drive and also get a 256mb stick of ram rather than 128mb.

Get a KT133A mobo and run your t-bird at 266mhz fsb instead of 200mhz.

The voodoo 5 is an excellent card, but I'd go for a Radeon or geforce2 since 3dfx are gone...

I don't know the hard drive model, but I'm assuming it's 7200rpm.

Finally, if you can afford it, get 256MB of ram since it's so cheap.

BTW, very good choice on the case, that thing looks GOOOOD!

1 256MB dimm i would suggest...
different sound card (i.e. turtle beach santa cruz, philip's accoustic edge)
video is fine, regardless of 3dfx's dissolvement...though there are better solutions, depending on the task involved...for nearly half the money, a inno3d kyro 2000 w/ give u better 3d quality and excellent fsaa performance...assuming u're considering fsaa a lot...otherwise a geforce 2 gts 32mb is your best bet...NOT a rip-off ultra.
hdd is fine, etc....everyone jocking ibm 75gxp drives, but u won't notice a difference unless benchmarking it anyway....

V5 is very cheap though, like half the cost of a GF2 GTS.

True, but there won't be any driver updates.

LXi:

If he's buying a $200 case, do you really think cost is an issue with the video card?

Honestly driver updates are pointless right now, V5 is already stable without any updates. I personally prefer the GeForce cards because of the faster 3D performance (especially with the GTS+ cards) not to mention the new T&L support on certain games like Giants.

Madflame:

I definitely would recommend a change on that sound card. The Turtle Beach card, and Philips Acoustic Edge are both superior choices and you'll spend the same amount of money as the live you're looking at. Also, Corsair memory is nice but very pricey. You can get away with Mosel, Crucial, Infineon, or Mushkin for cheaper and the same or better performance. Everything else looks great. As some have suggested as well, the IBM hard drive is the fastest and quietest available (maybe not quietest with the new Quantum AS series drives but definitely the fastest).

Yes, drivers seem to be pretty good, I was just thinking of what happens when Microsofts next OS comes out the card will be worthless, though that may be a little bit yet.

I would avaoid all 3DFX Products because future support will be minimal at best...I can see future problems when Whistler comes out and also lack of support when DirectX 9.0 comes out.

uhmm what about a DVD-ROM/CDROM/CDRW drive?

and make sure you get a nice monitor to go with that system (19" are what typical performance systems come with these days), and perhaps a UPS/surge strip depending on how often you get power outages.

I already have a CD-RW and CD-ROM drive, I also already have a 19" monitor. Yet the computer itself will still cost over $1,500. I'll get one of those power surge strips (even though we don't have too many...just to be safe).

You just asked if there was anything we saw missing, so I thought I would bring that up. $1500 I don't think is that much for a pretty near top of the line system (only thing you could upgrade I think is to a Geforce2 Ultra, but those are just ridiculous expensive and not worth the money). Make sure you get a nice power supply (I'd say at least 300W). I would say get a surge strip no matter where you live, a UPS is only necessary if you get frequent power problems and must have 100% availability (or at least it will give you time to shutdown properly on battery power, heh). If you want to cut off some $ off the price, a nice Enlight 7237 Case with power supply can be found for under $70, saving you some of your hard earned cash. But it won't be as nice or as light as the Aluminum case. Also Netgear and Linksys make quality NICs as well, for 1/2 the cost of the 3com one. Many other users on this board would recommend them as well. Make sure you get a PCI NIC though - ISA = evil. You may want to check pricewatch, I think $1500 for the total is a little high. You may be able to put it together for under $1300, espically if you save on the case and NIC.

Yeah, here's another thing...

I'm not familiar with TaiSol brand Heatsink/Fans but I recommend either the Globalwin FOP32-1 or FOP38.

The FOP38 ABSOLUTELY KICKS ASS (for the price) at keeping Socket CPUs cool. BUT! The fan on that thing is like having a personal helicopter in your machine...LOUD!

The FOP32-1 has a less powerful fan for quiet cooling, the difference in cooling ability isn't too bad between the 2 though. I personally have this HS/F

That's gonna be a nice system though! I know, cause i'm building one with the 1.2GHz chip too!

NAMUNA: I disagree, the Taisol he wants with the addition of the black label Delta (38CFM, same fan on FOP-38) cools my cpu to about 2 degrees less in celcius. The FOP38 was kind enough to break my plastic clip though, FORCING me to use the Taisol, they only HSF that uses all 6 clips instead of the center 2, and yes I do know what I'm doing, guess removing and replacing it many times weakened it...

256MB? Oh god no! If you got the cash, go for the big 512 (unless you are planning on using Windoughs 98 Sucky Edition........). I would also get a GeForce 2/3 unless you need Glide (?). Also, I'd go for an IBM drive instead of a WD.
