HP 3005dn laser printer $120 AR/MS

HP is having a huge rebate ($450) on P3005dn monochrome laser printer (35ppm, with network & double sided duplex output). This is a business-grade printer with recommended monthly volume up to 100000 pages. It comes with 80MB RAM and a full-size cartridge (6500 pages). PCRush.com is selling it for $599 (free shipping) plus 5% cashback from MS. There were some other resellers on MS Live Search, but they didn't mention the rebate on their web site. I called HP support, and was told if the reseller didn't mention the rebate, it probably did not qualify for it.

$600 - 450 rebate - 30 MSCB = 120.

Looks very interesting, but that is a huge rebate. On the rebate form (Section 1, rule 3) it says you must purchase from an HP authorized reseller or HP direct, and the authorized reseller will have a valid outlet number from HP. I wouldn't go for this until you make sure pcrush.com is an HP authorized reseller, you have their outlet number and have confirmed with HP that is a valid outlet number.

If it meets all those conditions-great find.

From reading the reviews at the site havoti97 linked (just above), pcrush has a habit of shipping refurbished or outright used printers as new.

The rebate form specifically says no demos or refurbished. Not worth risking $450 on with this vendor, I don't think. Good luck to anyone that goes for it.

Hp has it for 550, free shipping and the 450 rebate is a given so why bother with pcrush.

well, I chickened out and cancelled my order--will look for a more credible reseller. I don't mind the big rebate because HP has always been good on its rebates. I've gotten over a grand from HP rebates in the last few years--never missed a single one.

I just moved into a new apartment in Denver with my husband and budget was our number one priority. My husband is an IT and he told me to look around for a good deal on a Monochrome Laser printers. I didn't believe it at first so I e-mailed the company and they told me not only was there a mail-in rebate but there was also a promotional coupon on the printer.

After I told my husband, he told me that the company can get in trouble if it wasn't authorized by HP, but he was surprised to find this on the internet. This pretty much says that PcRush is an Authorized HP Distributor. Wow, we were surprised again! I thought everyone should know about this since this was the deal of the century! The printer just came in yesterday and it works great! The deal ends September 30th, 2008 so hurry guys before you miss it.

Before leaping on this deal, check out this previous discussion of it-and read some of the customer reviews of pcrush in the related links-things like shipping used printers as new. I wouldn't trust this outfit for a $450 rebate, but everyone must make their own choice.

I started the original post on this deal. After some hand wring, I took the plunge and ordered one from pcRush. I received my BRAND NEW printer 4 days after ordering. I told my uncle about this deal--he ordered one last Fri evening--it was shipped on Mon, and scheduled to arrive today. I did read the negative reviews (mostly from the early 2000's); but there were also thousands of + reviews on Bizrate, so which do you believe?! To further muddle the issue, I called HP customer service several times, and no one could even tell me which reseller was an authorized dealer or how to verify it. They told me authorized vendors should have an outlet ID number, but rep themselves did not know how to find the list of dealers. One rep simply said if a vendor had the HP logo on the web page, or the web page mentioned the rebate, the e-tailer was authorized. The rebate is from HP, not pcRush. As far as I'm concerned, pcRush did deliver the goods as promised. And no, I am not affiliated with pcRush, just a happy owner of an HP P3005dn. By the way, last year I also bought a Lexmanr E450dn (now retails for $600) from Atriniti (another vendor I had never heard of) for $516, minus $300 rebate (there were also people who bought from another vendor at a MUCH lower price and got the printer essentially for free). So there are plenty of good deals around, if you're brave enough to take the bet.

don't worry about it. It's just that people get suspicious when a new member posts a deal that seems too good to be true. It's not uncommon for vendors to join the forum and posts as consumers, just to link to their stores. You can't always believe what you see on the internet these days. There's certainly no shortage of vendors coming here posing as consumers, just to "tell us about a deal of a lifetime."

Suspicion doubles when considering you registered as "new user" at the other popular Hot Deals site hawking the deal. As posted there:
