For quality and speed wise, yes. The P1000 runs at 11 ppm and 2400 dpi max resolution, whereas the 5550c gets 17 ppm and a max 4800 dpi. The only downside of the 5550c is that it can't connect directly to your digital camera.

I was looking at that recently. Sharp unit but it's really deep. If you have tight quarters you might want to check on that.

I just got this printer around mid August, and it's a great printer. The photos come out very clear, in fact probably too clear for my crappy 1MP camera. Just make sure you pick up the optional photo ink cartridge.

The only complaint I have is the paper tray, it's a little on the flimsy side compared to my last HP printer, but the quality and speed more than make up for it.

The Canon S330 gets better ratings, costs less (with no rebates required), and has lower ink costs. Seems like a no brainer to go with the Canon instead. Just my 2 cents. Not trying to thread crap.

The black and the normal color ink cartridges come with the printer (HP #56, #57)
The Photo ink cartridge is the #58, and I'm sure I've seen it much cheaper than the $25 OfficeMax is charging.

To use it, you remove the black ink cartridge and use photo cartridge in it's place.

hey, see if the bottom of your OD receipts have coupons (yes, i know this is om thread, but they would probably take a coupon that was a receipt ALSO )
mine today had 10% off of the 5550. maybe something new od is doing
anybody interested, od also have certain photo papers 50% off
