In my experience Lenovo has better longevity than HP. Not knocking this deal, I'm just saying I wouldn't put down your lenovo on just specs alone. If you're looking for durable yours should do well.

I was looking at this a few days ago. I'd like to get a 17in with these specs and a better resolution. Hopefully in a couple of months that will be possible.

Otherwise this seems like a solid notebook for someone looking to buy now. Very attractive design.

My friend's Y560 has been a POS. Blown speaker, touchpad malfunctioning, and some trim is falling off.

If you want better resolution, try using the coupon code on the next model up the dv7t. The dv8t was 1920x1080 but I don't see it listed anywhere on the site anymore

Yeah I thought of that but the dv7t doesn't offer the Sandy Bridge i7. It seems the Windows OS cd's are an option on the dv7t but not on the dv6t.

Edit: I just chose the wrong one, it does offer the 2nd gen i7 but only comes in 1600x900 res.

The 3D performance should be a bit improved compared to the older Radeon HD 5770 due to the larger amount of shaders and higher clock speed. Therefore, current and demanding games should run fluently in 1366x768 and medium to high details. Less demanding games like Sims 3 or Fifa 11 should run in high details and resolutions.

Compared to desktop graphics cards, the HD 5770m is similar to the ATI Radeon HD 5570 graphics card.

So since the 5770m is slightly slower then the 6770m and the 5770m is similar to the 5570 we check the 5570 review and can see it's performance. It isn't a very good gaming card but will do some gaming. Add maybe 5%-10% because of the newer series and maybe 5% for driver improvement.

The 5770M never materialized. A better comparison would be the 5730M. The 6770M is going to be at least 50% faster than a 5730M.

A better way to compare is to read about the new macbook, which has a lower clocked 6750M (The 6770M is clocked 21% higher). That thing performs VERY well.

This is no crap chip, and combined with 1366x768 display, this thing will likely outperform a 6850/6870/460M that is running a 1920x1080 display due to the 98% pixel count increase.

When I get mine, I'll report on the numbers.

Go to www.notebookcheck.com and go to their benchmark pages. Select the first 8-9 games, then select the 6750M and also the 5730M and hit your enter key. It will display a page where you can compare the frames per second that each card gets under their settings. IIRC, High = High in all tests, just like Ultra = Ultra, down to the same resolution and settings. So it is an apples and apples comparison, with the exception of the potential CPU limitation. But when comparing the high and ultra high settings, the CPU limitation is pretty non non-existant due to the 1920
x1080+ resolution used. Anyway, you can see that the 6750M is decently faster than the 5730M.

Keep in mind that the 6770M is even faster (clocked 21% higher). Also keep in mind that this is basically 1/2 barts (6700M Series) versus 1/2 juniper (5600/5700 series).

The 6770M is clocked at 725/800 GDDR5. The 5730 is clocked at 650Mhz/800 GDDR3. So, technically, the performance difference will be greater than what we see below... Mafia II has some odd results, not sure why. I think ultra turns on some Physx type calculations and brings anything without an nVidia card to its knees.

Note: So far (to my knowledge) there has not been a 5600/5700 series joined with GDDR5. So with the 6570M, the performance is unknown. It is basically a 5730M paired with GDDR5. But since no one has it yet, it is impossible to determine how much faster the 6770M will be than the 6570M. But we do know that the 6770M is significantly faster than the 5730M and 6550M and any variant of the 5650M. Hope this helps...
