These drives are unlikely to get much cheaper than this as HP continues to clear this model out. The only way I could see it going lower is if Ebay issues one of its site-wide coupons, and if a place like Newegg has this model available on its Ebay storefront.

umm they had openbox ex920 for 105$ today earilier. I have purchased 2x920ex on ebay for 120$ new both time. 147 is standard everyday price!

Open box (or refurbished) is not the same as new. As far as the $120 price, that's likely with a limited time Ebay coupon code (like I mentioned above). I haven't seen them new (and from authorized retailers) priced at $120.

As far as the everyday price, they have been selling for $8 - $10 higher, and while it's not a huge savings, the various retailers will eventually run out of stock of this drive since it was replaced by the EX950.

ive been watching this drive for a while, on ebay you are correct wasnt authorized seller (which also means nothing to me) , but it was brand new. Openbox ssd is as good as new to me but newegg charges tax ;( The newegg listing on ebay (or major seller forget which) has been the exact 147 or less that you mention. So.. /shrug yea its normal price but a decent drive if you dont fill it to full.

I would have purchased this drive if not for your other post about the Crucial 510

Oh so tempting. I keep trying to decide between the EX920 and the 2TB 660p. The closer the EX920 gets to $100, though, the easier the decision become. Besides, we never really liked that QLC fellow anyways... never enough endurance.

If a person is of the "standard PC user" variety, the 660p has plenty of endurance. That along with a 5 year warranty, I wouldn't be concerned. Thankfully there are so many good choices for consumers now, instead of only having Samsung make the performance drives, while any competitor's drives were significantly slower in most uses.

I have a 850 EVO drive (now used as OS drive in my laptop) that I bought in 2015 I believe, and it was my programs drive in my main PC for a few years until I bought a 970 EVO Plus, and moved my 960 EVO into that duty, and it has under 10TB of writes during that time.

I'll be quite frank: I'm perfectly happy with a more-or-less "good" SATA 2.5" SSD.

I've dabbled in NVMe SSDs, first with some Samsung 128GB AHCI PCI-E SSDs (specifically purchased AHCI version, because Win7 64-bit didn't really support NVMe yet), they were FAST. I think that they were MLC too.

Then I bought a 256GB Intel 600p. That was one of the first TLC NVMe SSDs on the market, and the start of Intel trying to go for lower-cost NVMe drives. I think that it used an SMI controller.

I was horribly disappointed with its performance, especially slinging ISO files around. The SLC cache was fast, until the 30-50GB or so of it was filled up, then the SSD became unbearably slow to write to, even way below a standard 1TB 7200 HDD of contemporary technology age. It was then that I realized that much of the TLC NVMe SSD performance was all smoke-and-mirrors, involving SLC cache.
