HP laptop G71-329wm no boot!
At boot up, Power, Wireless and Bat chg lights turn on for 3 secs then unit shuts down. No onscreen video what so ever!

I changed RAM modules(2 qty) out and now unit partially boots, Power, Wireless and Bat chg are lit, and stays powered up to the point where the caps lock lights (two of them) blink three times then pauses, blinks 3 times and pauses and so on, but still no onscreen video what so ever!

HP Blink code says defective memory first, (installed new pair mem modules 2 - 2gb DDR3) and if that don't solve problem (it didn't) defective motherboard!

Installed new motherboard, with new DDR3 RAM modules and same condition exists, powers up, Power,Wireless and Bat chg are lit, caps lock lights blink(3 x sequence), and nothing further. No video display what so ever, NO PRODUCT NAME/MODEL, NO BIOS/POST screen nothing.

Anyone else seen/had this problem?

That's around 10 years old.

Where did you get the replacement mobo and do you trust it?

BTW, I used DDR2 not 3 modules, and tried the following . . .

I tried connecting to another monitor, VGA out and nothing.

I also tried solutions recommended from Google search results, A)Power Reset (3 different variations), and B) the keyboard Bios Reset (Windows logo key with the "B" key and the "V" key) solution with no success.

It seems as though this GPU problem is very, VERY common among this (and other HP models) HP laptop. The solution is to "re-ball" the unit or at a minimum reflow it. I will NOT attempt the "re-ball" procedure, nor take it to a "re-ball" service center. I find it amazing that the replacement motherboard had the same issue, and that the supplier even shipped it out that way! When I asked the vendor if he had tested BEFORE shipping replied yes and that my problem was incorrect memory and I should have used what they used . . . They said:

"this item was tested with RAM PC2-5800S and it's working" . . .

Only problem with the above is there s no such thing as "RAM PC2-5800S" memory! They lied, and they're taking it back! I'll try another source for a motherboard and for $48 which HAS to be cheaper than a "RE-BALL" service center. I will also advise my friend it's only a matter of time until this replacement MB will have the same condition.
