Hello, I have an HP Laserjet 1200 printer that's not working properly. Everything it prints comes out very light. I recently purchased a new HP brand toner cartridge and installed it and still have the very same problem.
I went to HP's site and went through all the basic FAQ and support procedures.
The printer is not set on Economode for light printing (for toner saving). The printer worked properly earlier without any settings changed. Just one day it decided to start printing too lightly.
The light text is even throughout the whole page. There are no streaks, blurs, or smudges.
Admittedly I know little about the mechanics of a laser printer. But either the toner cartridge roller is slighty too far away from the paper path and thus the toner isn't transferring completely.
Or perhaps the laser is dying and isn't completely getting the plate properly charged for it to attract the toner. (again a complete guess)
The printer is about 2 3/4 years old, thus it is out of warranty. It is default configuration (8MB ROM, 8MB RAM). It has used nothing but generic printer paper for its lifetime.
I'm receptive to any new thoughts or suggestions as I am out of any.
