I just brought a HP zv5404us laptop at Circut City after the rebate it came out to 665.00
Anyway it was advertised by HP as an xp-m chip 2800+. With my knoledge I happen to know that there are 2 models the 266 front side bus and the athon64 (64bit chip)
After taking this laptop home with me I have done several benchmarks and found that it was a 64 chip. but the specs are strange. I've used sisandra, CPUZ, and pcpitstop. They all agree that it is a 64 bit chip. However the level 2 cache is only 128K and the internal clock speed is only 1600. If you go to the amd website the internal clock speed is suppose to be 1800 and the 2nd level cache is 512. This is on the 2800+ processor.
I was mad!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called HP after 2 hours that it took me to get through I spoke with level 1 and she didn't know a thing. i asked for a suporvisor and it was told to me that HP has a special deal with amd that they can have the chip the way they want it so they can sell it cheeper. In otherwords they order in bulk and sell it like that.
I don't want to return the laptop because I got it cheep. But it's strange with the reduced specs that HP did to my laptop the real 2800+ xp-m (that my mother has that has a 266 front side bus scores 100 points higher.
I am feeling very unsettled about this can anyone advise me what to do if I should even do anything. I feel ripped off. But yet it was cheep.
This get's me angry because I feel that an amd64 chip should be an amd64 chip. If there are any changes HP should notify there customers.
