btw, there's only a 90 day warranty on this, would it have been wise to purchase a 2 year warranty ($139, does not include screen)? i didn't, hope it'll run fine.

Just want to point out,ECost has it for $1097 and free 2 day shipping!
There is a 1% Ebates (rebate)from ECost and 3% from PcMall.I think they
are the SAME company.Same Ca. city!

You're right! The morons raised their price! It WAS $1097,on the 9th!
They do state,they adjust prices daily.I ordered mine from them a week
ago,after PC Mall kept changing their arrival date!I also found out the
Mall charges sales tax in Wi ,Ecost does not!
If you check,you will see,I told people about the 5190 on the 17th of
feb. That is when I was first told,I would have it in 5 days!Then it was
another week,than another week! I would never order from PC Mall again!

Holy crap, Ecost charges $92 sales tax in CA and although shipping is "free' there is a $28 "handling fee"! WTF is that? Free shipping my ass! At PCMall I can add a 2 year warranty for $99 and my final cost is $16 less than at Ecost with no warranty.

Stay away from AMD K6-2 laptop computers. These babies produce a lot of heat and eat batteries like they're Corn Pops! I had a Sony VAIO with a K6-2 550 chip in it and even with a lithium ion battery, battery life was barely 1 hour playing a DVD or DivX movie.

I'm referring to the post on the Compaq and not this deal, just in case anyone was wondering.

First,PCMall also charges Ca. sales tax!I just called and cancelled my order
with ecost for the 5190.They did the same thing,promise delivery but did not
ship! As for WHY I will not buy from PCMall,it is because of the above and
what I read about them in PC Magazine! There is an item in the consumer watchdog part about a fellow who ordered an IBM factory refurbished laptop.
He had all kinds of trouble with it.PcMall told him he would have to have it
taken care of under warranty!Here is where I get second thoughts about PcMall!The"FACTORY"refurbished claim,did not mean an IBM factory! It was some
third party refurb outfit! I am sure this does not hold true for all the refurbs PcMall sells,but it leaves me uneasy!
I have since bought,and have in hand,a NEW IBM A21P/850mhz,32gig,256megs
15"tft,dvd all with full 3 year warranty for $2100.This is more than I wanted to pay,but it is the cream of the crop!

I was checking prices on line.I found the A21 on a local computer dealers
site.It was supposed to be a $3100 speacial,but was listed as $2100.I drove
about 75 miles to get it,but thought I had better pick it up right away! This
thing is INCREDABLE! The good thing is,I do web pages for several car dealers,so the whole thing is a tax write-off!

can't agree you any more. Ecost.com really sucks.
I bought a DVD player from them last year and
it does not have one important function it mentioned,
and I returend it, they charge me 15% restocking fee.
I have to call my Credit card company for dispute.

No,they honored the price,but raised it back to $3100.Which they said was
$500 off the normal price!As for Ecost,they sent me an email saying they
were sorry I cancelled.They also say,they no longer offer the 5190 refurb!
If this is true,I would bet PC Mall will also stop offering it,real soon!
I have never dealt with these companies before,and I now know enough not to
in the future!
By the way,I was wrong about the magazine article.It was not PC Magazine
it was PC World!It says they used a refurb company called Rumarson Technologies!
