Question. On that Freesync demo, what is the difference between having Vsync on or off? I don't notice a difference either way. I have 40fps up to 60fps as options either way. I set it for FPS sweep and I can toggle vsync on and off and I can't see a difference. Thanks

You won't see a difference with (Freesync on and Vsync on/off), that's the point.

Now if you do (Freesync on/off and Vsync on) you'll see small stutters with (especially at high FPS like 60) Freesync off.
Now repeat with (Freesync on/off and Vsync off), you'll see tearing with Freesync off.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered straight from HP and they also lowered the price by CAD$60, so I asked for the difference back.

I just snatched an HP refurbished model for $249 with free shipping. Killer deal!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/252694464247

I'm not expecting perfection here, as these refurbs could have crap Gray uniformity or bad back-light bleed? I'll let you all know once I receive it. My 27" Qnix QX2710 is feeling pretty small these days, but 96Hz is very nice. I know the 75Hz doesn't work on NVIDIA cards without frame skipping right now, but hopefully there will be a fix. If not, then VEGA is in my future.

I'm really liking the monitor. The "dirty screen effect" seems to go away if I up the brightness, but I have brightness at 10 out of 100 for normal use. I can live with it.

What monitor did you come from? How's the stand? I'm guessing the monitor is very bright out of the box?

Saw it in a store recently and would have pulled the trigger but was not impressed at all by the image quality. Pretty sure my impressions are misplaced as a golden rule is to never judge a display in a store. But nevertheless it left a slight lingering doubt in my mind. Played around with the settings to see if I could improve things, no success. Maybe a small factor is I'm somewhat prejudiced against matte coatings as I've been on glossies for last few years.

I still have some hope for this monitor but need to read a proper review. Theres the Asus 32" PB328Q (2560x1440) which I believe uses the same panel (also 10 bit, 75hz but no freesync):

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/asus-pb328q-32-inch-amva-qhd-monitor,4427.html

All pros and no cons in conclusion. If I can see a similar review for the Omen I'll get it in a heartbeat.

I came from a Benq 24" then went to a Benq 3200PT for about two weeks but could not get used to that monitor.

Picture quality is about equal to the Benq 3200 but pixel response feels a bit better and the higher refresh is a lot easier on my eyes especially since I keep it around the same distance as my old 24". Black levels are very good as expected, minimal blb, and no dead or stuck pixels on my screen straight from HP. This monitor and the 3200PT definitely have banding though, something apparently inherent to this panel, although it is not that noticeable for me.

Stand is adequate, sturdy, but only tilt adjustment. Benq had a lot more more adjustment but I think because of that it was a bit more wobbly.

I am maybe a bit more sensitive than average to the brightness so I always have to turn any screen down, so I can't really judge how bright it is relative to other screens.

I just do not see free sync being viable on 2560 and surely not on 4k monitors.
the top if the line 480 is just not that good. Maybe the new card, if it ever comes out might be ok but nothing now seems good enough for gaming at these resolutions.

I game @ 3440x1440 with a Fury Air and it does amazingly well. I run games either maxed or with a few settings turned down and get 60+ fps in most. Thats pushing 33% more frames than 2560x1440 which this monitor is. Freesync is perfect because of that, you don't have to avg over 75 hz, you can get 60-75 and not notice it because you don't get tearing or stuttering.

What an odd thing to say. It's seems almost exactly 100% wrong...

For starters Freesync is least "viable" when the refresh rates are high since the tearing is less noticeable. And it does absolutely nothing when the GPU is powerful enough to push more fps than the monitor can display. Which hints to us Freesync is most useful at lower fps where the tearing is more obvious, and stutter or judder come into play.

I read on the hardforum thread on this monitor that that listing may be a mistake. Either way you can edit the free sync range anyway.

It appears this monitor has LFC. Shouldn't the range go as low as 30fps?

For 75hz the min for LFC would be 37, AMD recommends 2.5x but only needs 2x.

37 * 2 = 74 which brings it into freesync range again. But yeah the listing is probably wrong on the website.

If you can get the range down to 37-75 with CRU or similar it should work.

Thanks for the responses guys. I also did some digging on the [H] thread and it looks like some people have had success going as low as 30 FPS with CRU. On another note, my monitor is supposed to be here on Monday as they took their sweet time shipping it. Regardless, I'm looking forward to it.

I got the monitor today and set it up.

First impressions:

Monitor is pretty huge - dwarfs my 27" Qnix
Blacks are very deep
No dead pixels
Minimal BLB
Well built, compared to my Qnix at least. Stand is solid metal.
Frame skips anything past 60Hz on my card. (NVIDIA)
I have more testing to do, but motion seems different...Maybe slight ghosting? It's more noticeable vs. my Qnix
Colors are'nt quite as good as my Qnix. Deeper blacks make up for it though
I can't tell a difference in PPI. Screen looks just as sharp as my Qnix 27" 1440p
I'm going to have to get used it while gaming, as it could make me blow chunks...
I may have to grab an AMD card so I can test out FreeSync.

So far the monitor impresses. There is also no sign of use, being that this is a HP refurbished monitor. At $249, this was an absolute steal...
LCD hours in the monitor settings show zero hours of use. I'm sure they reset that
