Was looking around for a Windows 8.1 tablet and was leaning towards a 2 in 1 for the most part. Decided that it's only going to be used for low power stuff anyways. Pretty much just web, email, videos, etc.

Played around with it last night at BestBuy and thought it was pretty decent but a tad overpriced.

Came across this deal at Amazon this AM.

Storage is kind of weak at 32GB's but it does support microSD cards. Not a big deal to me but might be a deal breaker for others.

Did your purchase at BB also include the Office 2013 for Home and Student?

If so, that's actually a really good deal as that's at least a 100-125 option.

I bought a Lenova Touch 10 a few months back that offered the the Office 2013 home and student for 264.00. It was a nice deal.

I wound up price matching mine at BestBuy without any issues at all.

This one does not have a price tag for a new one on Amazon. just used ones. why is that? and isnt the price on Bestbuy alittle high compared to other tablets with higher specs?

There is a COA in the package that states " Do Not Disgard " Includes Microsoft product: Windows 8.1 Small Screen Touch with Office Home and Student 2013 It states the activation code on it is for Office.

You need to click on the See price in cart for the price to be visible.

BestBuy will price match the deal with Amazon you just need to point them towards it....Twas what I did. It's the only reason for the link.

In some ways its good and some ways some people will prefer other options. It has a nice screen, the faster atom cpu, it comes with office, it is a good price.

That said there are comming out with 14nm cpu models in the last fall almost christmas time. Those will probably be more expensive and will come with a 1 year copy of office instead of a permanent copy.

There are also coming out with atom models for android and some people prefer android. For example there is the tf103c you get something similar to the last years tf101 for windows. It costs $299 with dock $249 without it has a similar cpu z3745 (vs z3740), 1gb ram, 16gb storage+micro sd, 1280x800 screen, powervr graphics instead of intel hd graphics; but it comes with the keyboard dock, it is android (which some people prefer), and if you preorder on newegg you get a 1 year accidental warranty for free.

What I am trying to say is you got a good deal but now there are so many choices out there and there is no perfect device yet, every device has trade offs. Once they cut the weight down for the surface pro 3 to 400grams instead of 800 grams and they sell the surface pro 3 for $300 instead of $800 then we will have a perfect device Oh then they would need to have a good android emulator that allows you to open android up in a window just like it is another program.

That's the same one I had with the Lenovo. So you got a good deal, IMO.

I would be thinking about it except I already have a Touchpad, and Kindle Fire and an Acer Iconia already.

When I added it to my cart now, it came up as $250, not $280.

Dang....Even better deal now.

Too bad BestBuy won't price match a price matched deal. Not going to hassle with a return and repurchase....It's tempting.

Seems like a decent Windows tablet for the money.

Info:
1st boot looks to require power from the wall. Guessing it's due to windows setup and battery power uncertainly.
It does take a while for windows to fully update to update 1.
Once Windows 8.1 is fully updated there will be around 14GB of space left.
Cold boots in 12-15 seconds, Wake from sleep pretty much instant.
8GB microSD card preinstalled which is the restore partition....Guessing all include this but it's not listed so YMMV?

I bought one. Thanks for posting it.

No problem....I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

For anybody wanting to try a Windows tablet it's a lot of bang for the buck!

Forgot to mention it has the rubberized nexus style build. Has a good feel in hand....Too me at least.

It's the real version of windows (not the RT crap), so that's a plus. I'm sort of turn between pulling the trigger on something like this versus waiting for the nexus 10 second edition or some other similar newer tab. Surface pro 3 is nice, but I"m not about to plunk down $800 for it.

same.

My Dell Venue 8 is good in many ways, but the overly sensitive touchscreen is a huge problem.

Considering returning my Venue 8 because of this issue, like it otherwise. I also have an HP 10.1" elitepad, not sure yet which size I prefer.

So mine arrived tonight (one-day Amazon Prime for $3). The screen is fantastic - the resolution and colors look awesome - and I like the rubberized build. Feels solid. Seems to run fast enough. It has 16GB free space plus SD... which is not bad. Plenty of space - especially compared to an iPad. The volume gets plenty loud and it sounds pretty good. I'm pretty impressed. On the other hand, I bought it from Amazon and despite the sealing tape, it looked and felt like it wasn't new - the screen protection plastic looked like it had been removed, there was dust and dirt on the back protection plastic and it arrived uncharged... which was freaky (wouldn't turn on until I charged it for 15 minutes). I'm pretty unimpressed that it needs it's own charger with a special cable... I guess to charge quickly you need more than 5V but it's still annoying. And Chrome crashed twice viewing this: https://imgur.com/a/dLaMy which is disturbing. I presume out of memory... My 1st gen iPad used to crash on big Imgur webpages too.

But overall, so far, I'm happy.

The one I got from BestBuy wouldn't boot the 1st time without the power cord also. The screen cover wasn't 100% down was more like monitor style as in loose. Plastic protector on back was off centered with lots of bubbles.

IE loads your link.... Seems pretty demanding based on time.

Power cord is tolerable but too short. Think I'm gonna order a longer one from Amazon.

Win 8.1 on a tablet is a whole new experience. Some good some bad.

The tablet was the final purchase in my Windows eco system as I switched to the Lumia 1520 last week. I'll be glad when the user experience is updated to same with all things Windows....No if they'd only take my hint and call their next OS One!

I bit on this. Been looking for a good inexpensive 10" tablet and this may be it. Not a fan of Win 8.1 on a desktop but I'll give it a try on a tablet. Using my Discovercard cashback it was $208. and change shipped. I shipped it to my son in Ohio to avoid the 9.75% TN sales tax. Have plans on seeing him July 4th weekend.

Amazon sales have taken a hit in states where they collect sales tax. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-04-22/amazon-sales-take-a-hit-in-states-with-online-tax.html

The Amazon tax does suck!

For those wishing to play around with a Windows tablet it's hard to beat the Omni 10 at it's current pricing.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I'm still happy with mine. Since I bought it, I took it all around Europe with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and left my laptop at home. My kids played Minecraft on it - and I did a little too - and it plays that game perfectly and it worked great for watching movies and surfing the web. The battery life is pretty good too.
