HP Pavilion Elite e9280t and SLI question

I have HP Pavilion Elite e9280t PC and per the specs it states 2 PCIe (x16), 1 PCIe (x4), 1 PCIe (x1). Also has Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-920 processor and 8GB DDR3-1066MHz SDRAM [4 DIMMs].

I currently have a 1GB ATI Radeon HD 4650.

The PSU is the stock HP 460 watts.

I picked up 2 Nvidia GeForce 9600GT 1GB GDDR#3 cards at the Staples deal.

I was thinking of bringing one back but I am thinking of trying the SLI route since I am supposed to have 2 PCIe (x16) slots.

My first concern is the PSU. Can 460 handle it?

If not can a Earthwatts 650 PSU be sufficient?

If not what PSU?

I do not have an SLI connector, any suggestions?

My second concern is anything you come up with.

460 watts is likely going to handle it easy since the 9600 GT doesn't pull a whole lot of power. As long as your not doing any insane overclocking with your i7 920, the PSU should handle SLI ok. The SLI connector you can probably buy somewhere online.

I would definitely test the 9600GT in SLI on your 460 before making any purchases.

Should work no problem and if it crashes in a game then you most likely know why.

SLI connectors can be had for cheap on eBay or you could go to the website of the manufacture of your 9600GT video cards and purchase one directly from them most likely.

Thanks for all the replies. I forgot to add that the minimum PSU per the system requirements is 400 w. Is it wrong to say that SLI will require more than 400 w?
