FYI this printer uses the new 110 Cartridge and only hold 5ml of ink. HP site indicates that you might get about 50 prints from the cartridge. Past models i.e. 470 photosmart could use the 97 cartridge that held 14 ml of ink. So If your giving this as a gift besure to include several ink cartridges.

wow that sucks.

50 prints per cartridge is horrible.
I bet they charge like 25-30 bucks per cart.
I'd rather go with a diff brand

Goto Officemax and get the 7850 printer. It can use 6 ink colors instead of 3 (a516) and it will also do up to 8.5x11. And its 49.99 regular price. Much better deal, however its not as portable as the 'a' series printers. Plus the ink for it will be easier to find, the 110 hp inks are brand new and could be harder to find (thats what the 'a' series takes)

The printer does use the 110, but one should not buy the 110 catridge itself. One should purchase the 110 photo value kit. The kits including ink and paper work out to be between .24 and .29 per print. These are very high quality prints for a 4x6 printer.

The above post about the ink cost is incorrect and should be disregarded as such. The price of a 110 catridge by itself is 19.99, but like I said buy the value packs, bigger tanks and paper.

gotta be care with those 'value kits' on the packaging it says a 'custom' 110 cart. And HP doesn't say how much ink is actually in them. So many people are lead to believe its the same as the standard cartridge, but is not.

About the Custom 110, YOU ARE RIGHT THEY ARE DIFFERENT than the regular ones. There is MORE ink in them, exactly as my previous post stated.

If you are looking for a nice 4x6 compact printer, this one fits the bill nicely!

Which inks are cheaper? Certainly not the Lexmark, Epson, Canon, Brother oh wait.. that's all of them. Very expensive indeed.
