I am sad panda, my ebay touchpad got cancelled :'(
No, I don't think anyone noted the fact that it was for 7" TouchPads. That said I doubt we'll see such devices - it's one thing to support the 10" TouchPad (since it was a viable retail product, at least for 7 weeks), but the 7" would be a DOA product.
Who likes WebOS and who hates it? I guess to each their own. It's slow. Yes. But I feel it's a superior OS than any android. I went from a Pre- to a HTC EVO 4G. I really hate the EVO. it's just clunky, and buggy. Things crash, doesn't respond to my commands half the time, and I feel less productive.
I've not had any complaints with WebOS except the lacking variety of apps. There are quite a few Palm Pre apps out there for emulation mode use, but that defeats the purpost of having a big screen.
My real needs are RDP (A MUST), wma capable audio player, and native Netflix. I don't think WebOS will cut it as I've only been able to play wma files out of my three major needs with Audiophile.
As for speed, when you disable logging and do the preware tweaks (with or without overclocking), it's a different tablet. Battery life seems to be decent.
Finally, I was impressed with the Email app. I was able to sync with my work Exchange account...which has a bunch of activesync security policies that break half of the devices out there. HP did a good job with that app... I did a video call with skype last night and it seemed to work well too.
Haven't had much time to play with it yet do to work and llack of power since I got it, but plan on taking it with me this weekend and had a couple questions.
Any problem hooking this up via cell phone hotspot wifi?
How do you network this to your computer? Have several tvshow avis saved I want to move over. Can you do it wifi or does it need to be by cable?
I agree, really would like an RDP app. For the logging, do you disable it by setting the logging level to minimal or is there an actual option to turn it off entirely? I set my logging level to minimal and figured that was it.
The first step is to use the phone app and dial ##LOGS# to turn it off there. After doing that, install java and the preware stuff from a PC, connect your USB cable and install the "Muffle System Logging", "Remove Dropped Packet Logging", and make sure you add "Increase Touch Sensitivity and Smoothness 10".
Those are the big ones, but there are other preware 'patches' that can give you a performance boost without overclocking too.

LOL, I know, been thinking the same thing... was reading a bit over there, those folks are pretty different.
"HP will do another production run of the TouchPad."
I laughed my ass over that, yeah, HP will make more of them to sell at a massive loss.

I think it's okay overall. There are a lot of things that I believe they could have cleared up with some simple user trials. For example, I fixed my battery life problem by telling it to turn off WiFi when asleep. I don't know how Apple handles it, but iOS doesn't seem to be affected by WiFi being on or off, and if it does disable it while asleep, it seems to connect extremely fast.
But anyway... I have a lot of little complaints, but nothing too major. I think that combined they would have been enough to make me return the device, but not for $100.
How did you turn off WiFi when asleep? I can't find the option anywhere.
Edit: Nevermind, just found it. On another note, anyone else annoyed when you scroll down webpages and you can move the screen from side to side?
