I went ahead and canceled my order. Money's gonna be tight this month with bills, birthdays, and only getting 1.5 normal checks from work, cause they moved the pay schedule up a week to compensate for the fact they can't plan out a fiscal year.

If you want to buy or trade for a Touchpad, you need to post in FS/FT.

it would be awesome of somebody can port iOS on these things

Eww why would you do that.

WEB OS is superior to IOS for multitasking.

The only thing would be the apple apps store but knowing them they would find a way to detect you are running it on a touchpad and try to sue you lol.

I've asked a few times and no one has provided a single reason to want apps to run unhindered in the background. Have you actually ever used the iOS "multi-tasking" implementation? It actually works rather well if apps implement it properly.

when people are talking about running apps 'unhindered', they're talking about when they need to use both pages almost at once. For example, copying data to another app, etc.

yah that's extremely easy to do in iOS.

i too don't understand the people who dislike multitasking in iOS. i think they just have no clue how to use it or that it exists.

Having iPhones all thru the generations the multi-tasking is functional. The implementation is kinda sucky tho....Would be much better if you could just swipe like home pages.

I like the webOS implementation better as it's easier to swipe than reach for the button.

I think when a lot of people talk about webOS multi-tasking superiority, they are really talking about task switching. Which is nice, but it's not like it changed my life once exposed to it.

Is there an easier way to swap windows in WebOS? I just swipe up and then swipe to the app that I want.

I suspect the next round is coming VERY soon. I have a friend who works for HP... (former EDS employee) and apparently they are available for purchase to employees now one per.

I'd bet whatever doesn't sell to employees becomes available to the rest of us slobs.

Side note... I just managed to get another 32GB ordered through OnSale, earlier today they had a link for people who's earlier orders were cancelled. Keep your eyes open... there's more to be had.

(I've got my hands on 5 total to date)

I think it's both the task switching and being able to exit/drop an unwanted task/app with the swipe of a finger. It's faster and easier than iOS and Android.

I think the one thing that's weird about iOS's implementation is that you have no idea what the application is actually doing. Just because an application is in the... not sure what you call it... task bar (?) does not mean that it's actually using any resources. If I remember correctly, there are the six aspects to iOS multi-tasking, and it can be using anywhere from 0 to 6 of them.

Besides, you're not allowed to buy or sell them in FS/FT anyway. Try eBay instead.

i think it sthe fact that webOS has fullblown multitasking.

People used to take Android and laugh at iOS, but in the end Android is just as handicapped as iOS is. Maybe a little better, but the fact that the push notification system on Android is shit and that not everything has full blown multitasking, it really isn't a true multitasker.

But webOS is. Unfortunately it's so slow and what apps do you want to multitask with anyway?

On tablets it might make more sense, but in phones and stuff, you can't have side by side windows anyway, and even if you could the implementation would be crap at best. Since you only have one foreground app at a time, as long as the background app can resume to saved state or continue working on something (like download, receive notificaitons, play music), then you're good.
