Couldn't you just buy it today and see if Best Buy lowers the price tomorrow? If not... just return it for a full refund, and if they do, just go into the store to use their Price Match Guarantee.

Their policy specifically excludes the TouchPad:

No. The HP TouchPad is on clearance and we will no longer be selling the units so we will not offer any price matches. We do offer a 60-day return/exchange policy for this product.

However, based on HP's directive it seems like they will most likely change their policy and credit the price difference for everyone who has purchased one since it launched.

Most BB's aren't selling it at any price right now, and there's conflicting information as to whether they'll sell it at the clearance price or send all units back to HP.

Someone in another thread said you can run Ubuntu on it (or someone somehow got it on there), so I have hope for it. Even for $100, it would be an amazing just browsing device.

I was at two local Best Buys this morning. The TouchPads were pulled from their displays on the floor at both, and the salesmen admitted they had them in stock still, but were not allowed to sell them to customers.

Maybe they're thinking about selling WebOS to an Asian company? That company could then sell webOS tablets in the emerging markets where apple hasn't penetrated as much.

The world knows about this fire sale. Everyone wants the same deal. No one is going to be dumb enough to pay $400-500 for this now. They didn't before and they sure aren't going to now.

I think he was probably refering to UK/Europe where they are still listed at full price.
