If Apple, Google, Samsung, etc were smart they would buy up all the WebOS tablets and dump it in a landfill. This firesale along with the upcoming Android Honeycomb firesale beginning of next year is going to hurt Apple iPad sales. Maybe not this quarter, next, or the one after but it's going to happen soon. Apple can bring its A game for iPad 3 but there could be sales disappointment if enough of these discount and firesale tablets get into the hands of people. It changes people's mentality what is fair price and $500 is going to seem expensive.

I'm guessing these panels are identical to the ones used in the iPad since HP is one of the few, if not the only, other tablet maker using the 9.7 inch screens. If that's the case, AAPL could buy these and harvest the screens since they were estimated to cost AAPL around $120 I believe. I know that's not really practical, but it's amusing.

500k units is just a blip on the radar though, considering most of the people buying it (the Slickdeals crowd) probably were never going to buy a $500 tablet anytime soon.

Mine says, "Order being verified". So they're probably going to check out and make sure the people ordering these really do qualify.

Couldn't resist and grabbed the 32 GB for $134 shipped (including a ream of paper and SAVE30HP code + tax) from HP EPP. I would have preferred the 16 GB but couldn't make it to appear. I checked Amazon and they were selling the 16 GB for Target but it was for $100 + $12 shipping, so I just went back to HP and got the 32 GB.

This was about 10pm central and still no email confirmation.

I ordered 3rd one, 32 gb. $136 with coupon and tax. I'll keep the 32 gb one and probably give away two 16 gb ones as gifts.

Yeah I can't get the price down either. Was going to order one with the code instead. Oh well, guess I'll just wait until tomorrow.

If for some reason I can't get one tomorrow, and they are sold out online, if someone is buying an extra 32gb to sell, lmk.

Holy crap, HP just killed the tablet market.

Non iPad tablets weren't selling well, and HP's dumping a half a million tablets on the market???

So rumor has it that HP does not allow the coupon code for the TouchPad because of the price drop. This is why some people have not gotten the email confirmation yet.

Oh well, if it's canceled then it's canceled. No tears will be shed here

try using IE and inprivate mode. or incognito on chrome.
create account on epp with code 2727 then click on the link in the original slickdeals site after closing your login page

Hopefully they just cancel the coupon code and ship it for the $150 + tax then. I wouldn't be upset in the slightest.
