did you o/c it? someone mention if you did you also let it u/c itslef while idle.

I think the UberKernel itself allows for reducing the clockspeed as I didn't select the 1.5Ghz profile and it still would drop to ~200Mhz when idle.

We still need to all get together in HSV sometime. Maybe we can have a Touchpad party. ... That sounds gross, nevermind.

I'd feel a bit shy about whipping out my small 16GB!

Holy shit.... just installed preware and patched. HOLY SHIT. This thing is fucking fast! (And not even overclocked)

Did you take care of the logging stuff yet? And install the patches? It's crazy how big a difference it makes.

If you go to Device Info, swipe down up in the preferences area or whatever (drop down menu) and tap "Custom Application," type in ##logs# there and it'll open the logging app or whatever in a new card. Handy for if you don't have skype credits.

Multitask on this thing is brilliant. I wish iOS and Android would steal it.

Already did that before I installed preware. Night and day difference.

Now if only I could find somewhere to plug in my Touchstone where the toddler won't send it flying across the room...

This thing gets a LOT of things right, dimming of the screen via the task bar, locking the screen orientation via the task bar, multitasking, etc.

TP just arrived and I picked up the keyboard I had on order from BB. Just waiting for the touchstone to arrive at BB to complete my set. Getting ready to oepn and play with it for the first time.

Dear god this thing sips battery like no other device I've seen. A day later and it's still sitting at > 80% charge.

Yea the battery life on this thing is insane. Though I did notice one thing and I'm going to see if I can replicate it. After about 90 minutes of use the battery went from 100 to 88 instantly. While for the length of usage I'm not surprised by the drop in battery more so that it didn't update as the percentage went down it did it all at once.

And as for the case I've found that the "stand" makes a great "handle" it gives you something extra to hold on to. That makes it worth it to me.

Before doing preware or any of the tweaks, play with it until you can't believe someone would have paid 399 for it.

Installed preware and some patches. Loving it so far. My only gripe is with the official HP case. I like the way it fits on the touchpad but I can't seem to use the touchpad comfortably with the flap hanging around

opened it up, put the case on and using it to type now. Case seems nice, fairly rigid strong rubber but the fold over flap doesnt make a perfect seal if you are worried about grit getting into it. Typing this now with the flap folded supporting the tab standing upright. Seems capable enough for some impromptu desktop like use, particularly with the k/b though for long term use youd probably want a more secure stand. This is the first tab i've owned so can't really give a comparison there.

did notice it occasionally slow when changing orientation, seems more likely to occur if its done several times over a short period.

I just hold it with flap hanging from the top and tuck fingers around it between tab and flap and dont even notice it that way.

When i want to do something in a specific orientation i just quickly tap on the top status bar lock rotation and then unlock it later when i want to change what im doing, seems to work really well for me.

once I have a clue how to do that I probably would too in the 5 minutes I let myself play with it before getting back to hurricane stuff I had to open the help file to find how to close a window

I'd say my initial thought after a couple minutes is that this would make a great media device, whether to watch show/movie or pic album so if I can managed to snag a couple 16gbs I probably will. Hell, at that price just leave one on the coffee table if someone has that "let me look that up" moment.

I also own an iPad 2, so it's hard for me not to directly compare the two. Some thoughts regarding recent comments...

Multi-Tasking
There's a lot of talk in here about multi-tasking, and I'm honestly not sure what the fuss is about. I've only ever used store demos of Android devices, but isn't the multi-tasking similar to that? They both include background execution, but the difference is in how you access said tasks, right?

There are comments saying that iOS should pick this up as well, but why would you necessarily need that? It seems that both WebOS and iOS have one large negative aspect of their implementation. WebOS will use extra resources and iOS requires the app to be programmed to take advantage of iOS's multi-tasking implementation.

It is certainly annoying when you're using an application on an iOS device and it doesn't support multi-tasking. I've been playing Capcom's Kenken again, and it doesn't support it. Rather annoying if I "minimize" the app.

Performance
It's still hard to ignore that even with the 1.5Ghz overclock, logging set to minimal and the logging patch installed, the software still isn't that fast. For example, if I hit HP App Catalog, it sits there for about 3-5 seconds until it loads up and that only includes loading the summary.

All of that takes about a second on the iPad. I mean... it's hard to ignore the performance differences when you actively use both devices. It's like using my SSD-equipped desktop at home and going into work to use the mechanically encumbered laptop at work.

Battery Life
Battery life seems to be okay so far. I'm down to about 88% after charging it to 100%. I performed the 3.0.2 update, added all the homebrew applications as well as the other applications. While updating and installing Preware, I did have it plugged into my PC, which I believe provides slight charging. 12% battery use isn't too bad.

The Little Things
I mentioned this before, but there are just so many little things that I run into on this tablet that could use some work. That's not to say that they make it awful to use, but some are pretty annoying.

I mentioned this one earlier, and it's probably the worst; in the HP App Catalog, if you click outside of the Purchasing dialog, it is impossible to get back to it unless you close the application and reopen it. This is made even worse when you attempt to paste a promo code, and WebOS puts the paste context option right off the side of the dialog. Quite a few times, I was pretty certain that I hit the Paste option, but it closed the dialog, and I was stuck again. Maybe the screen could use a recalibration as well?

I've mentioned a few other things along the way, but I'm actually kind of curious now how Android would actually run on this.
