I downloaded it, installed it, ran it, downloaded a book from Amazon and brought it up to read all with no problems at all. Book downloaded in the same blink of an eye as it does with my nook. Not sure what all else it's supposed to do that makes it "blow."
So, you got yours!

I am on the prowl for a good priced touchstone now...
May hit up walmart later today for a $35 one, but... would rather pay less. :sneaky:

Getting mine tomorrow from HP. Ordered on Friday for $85 with free shipping. Need to find a good price on the case now.

...so, Insight put a hold back on my card for the full amount of the original order, but their site shows no record of any orders by me.

I should probably just ignore this whole thing for the next week and see if anything shows up on my doorstep.
"Should"...

For those of you mentioning the lack of a card slot -- I do wish it had one, but keep in mind that you get 50 GB of FREE online storage accessible from anywhere from box.net. That should be one of the first things you sign up for when you get your Touchpad because who knows when/if that offer will go away.

Also, remember, it also has a working Kindle app so you're getting something better than the Nook at less price even if Android never shows up for it.

50gb of free storage is nice and all, but its hard to watch movies stored on it while you're on the road.

Drove by a Best Buy in The Colony, TX this morning and there was a line of maybe 50 people waiting for them to open. My guess is that a lot of people will be sorely dissapointed.

True, but that's why you use streaming instead if you can get a WiFi connection. Otherwise, you have to make do with what it has in terms of storage. I do wish they would've put a microSD slot in it, but meh, what can you do?

I've got the rubberized HP case that I got used from a friend for free. It seems OK, but I'd like something better. Any recommendations?

My local BestBuy got 50 in last night but we couldnt buy them then. They listed on their twitter page this morning that they were going to start handing tickets out at 9 to get a touchpad. I got my ticket for a 32gb model. Just waiting on the store to open now. Well worth taking a vacation day!

What kind of case? A case that you keep on at all times or a case that you slip the touchpad into when you're not using it?

I ordered a 32GB from HP - order finally went through Saturday or Sunday night (I think it was Sat). I finally got an order acknowledgment on Monday, and an order confirmation on Tuesday. The order page on the HP site says "Estimated Shipping: 8/23" but "Ship Complete: No".

I've been hesitant to buy accessories because I don't know if it's coming or not, but I know if I wait too much longer they won't be available. Anyone else have a similar situation?

Yep....You almost gotta just take the jump and get the accessories in good faith as they seem to be drying up pretty quick!

I also waited till I got my shipping confirmation from samsclub and wish I didn't but wound up getting the Touchstone and case at bestbuy yesterday.

You can return accessories. Buy it now if it's something you really want. The only accessory I wanted was the Touchstone charging dock so I bought that yesterday.

One that you keep on all the time. The rubberized one isn't terrible, but I got it free from a friend and it is kind of beat up. I was thinking about buying another but I want to see if a better alternative exists.

I slid one of ours into my wife's old Apple Ipad 1G case(Apple brand), and it works great. Can't really think of a reason not to use that case it fits quite well.

From what I've read, it could potentially block the speakers on the touchpad.

Dang, I really want a touchstone and am willing to pay a little more for it but the $60+ on ebay is hard to swallow... I might have to make the plunge...

Lol at this thread and all threads based on trying to get a touchpad lmao...

Day that this deal was posted on slickdeals it already had like 3500 replies when I saw it and was sold out at all the retailers with the adjusted price. I was on the fence about this thing as I don't really need a tablet so I was like meh and put on a movie to watch. Finished watching the movie, checked back and saw 6000 replies. Checked some more retailers none had it in stock.

Then I remembered that micro center has online holds on products that they don't charge you for until you pick up the item. The price was still $400 when I placed my order that night but I knew that if they didn't drop in price by the time I show up the next morning I can just say no thanks with no charge to my card.

I drive in leisurely that morning since I had to buy a mobo and proc for a build I was doing anyways. Leisurely shopped around and then picked up the touchpad on my way out.

I still chuckle to myself thinking about all these people going crazy, pulling out their hair and reading over 20 threads to try to score one of these in addition to having to wait for shipping. Lol I got this thing 8/20 with no hassle, it was like buying a carton of milk ie how easy it was.

Another funny thing: A friend of a friend came to me and asked to play with my touchpad... because she was getting one. Somehow I'm not seeing that working out either... too late to the game.

Well, screw it. $300 later I have the 32gb, keyboard, case, and touchstone. Based on my fuzzy math I paid ~$70 more than the best deals I could have gotten. Oh well, guess that's what I get for working during the time things were dropping in price.

Still, this is less than half what I paid for the transformer, keyboard, case, and 32gb sd card for the wife so I can't really complain.
