What does an ipad have that the average user would use regularly that this doesn't have? Serious question; I've never used an ipad and this is my first tablet. I think tablets are a waste for the most part, unless you travel a lot and don't need the power of a laptop, but maybe there's something I'm missing

Polish, speed, and interface simple enough that any 3 yr old could pick it for the first time and start using it. And apps. Thousands and thousands of apps. iPad is in class of its own.

If I had to rate from 1-10:

iPad=10
Android tablet=8
WebOS Touchpad=6

If Touchpad had little more native apps and support, I would give it a 9.

Little polish and apps are really only thing missing from this. I can see why people said WebOS had so much potential and best multitask.

:'(

All holds are now gone from my card, and no Touchpads are here.

All is lost, gonna go cry in a corner now, cradling a piece of cardboard that has "My Pretty Touchpad" written on it.

hold down the on button. For whatever reason the touchpad doesn't turn on with a simple click of the on button.

I've tried everything I can think of. I'm starting to get a bit worried. This morning when I first grabbed it, I connected it to my computer so I could transfer some files over. I connected it before I turned it on, and my computer went through the "installing hardware" motions and said failed to install. Maybe this caused some kind of hiccup? Idk :/ It's been hooked up to the wall for a while now and still nothing

hmm, well just unplugged it and tried turning it on, and it worked. not that I didn't try that 10 times before lol. crisis averted, for now

For anyone interested, I got an email from mwave saying that if you join their "Mwave Premier Club", they would allow you to buy a touchpad at the $99 or $149 price (16 or 32GB model). Of course, the mwave premier membership is $60/year. I guess if you shop at mwave a lot, it might be worth it (2% cashback, free shipping). Not really for me, but some of you might be interested.

Link for info:

Sold Out. LOL

The sad part is that a bunch of people actually paid $60 for the privilege of buying it. Not bad I guess if ebay prices are higher, but damn that is such a waste of $60.

But then again, I'm used to Amazon Prime with my Amazon rewards card... there I get actual value out of the $70 I pay.

cheaper than resale values plus you get whatever the service is, which may or may not be worth something to you. yeah, what a waste

Ebay is $230. Mwave is $160. It's a savings and there are benefits to the membership. Even with Ebay buyer protection. I would trust Mwave any day on this one.

Apparently you missed the part about MWave being sold out. Meaning you pay $60 for the membership and get no touchpad.

^ How do you figure? It says "sold out" in red, capital letters not once but twice on their site, and you can't add the touchpad to your cart. In fact, a search for that item returns nothing. How is it "not really" sold out?

Staples and Office Depot also have ads for them in this week's flyer.

So what are the chances of RadioShiznack actually having one of these. How about Staples? Doubtful. And are they going to honor the right prices? Or could you buy if you found one, and pressure them into adjusting it downward later in the week? I can't imagine anyone in the store being that oblivious to the situation though.....Ok, well maybe...

I suspect that those ads were planned and printed weeks in advance but that's just a guess on my part.

You're correct, usually 2-3 weeks in advance. When I worked at BB ('92-'99) they kept them in a secure room. Nobody would have a peek of what was to be on sale (price wise), until the Saturday night before. Of course I found a way to get a copy since I was the first person to get a hold on them (dropped shipped via FedEx). Not sure if they have changed since then.

When I worked for OfficeMax back in college they received the sale ads weeks ahead of time as well. The night stocking crew actually got to look at them the week before so they could make sure all the key sale items were in stock and merchandised in a good spot. If we received them from the printers 2-3 weeks ahead, they were probably designed and sent to the printers at least a month before the day the sale started. The Touchpad end of life happened so fast, no stores could correct their sale ads in time.

The thing is, from what I understand, Radioshack never cleared them out. They might have them for that price. That would be funny.

Or did HP recall the tablets or make the retailers sell them?
