I really do like my Touchpad.

If you like, click the agree button...

Yah... be glad this isn't like FB.

Wondering what to do with that extra, unopened TP in my sock drawer.

The only Touchpad competition I see for the "Ebay" prices out there is the G-tablet and that is only if you do some work to it (sorta like the Touchpad, better once you do some work to it). Reload the ROM on it to take advantage of its great specs. Plenty of good ROMs out there too. Yeah the screen is very directional but hey it has built in over the shoulder privacy. ;-)

Supposedly G-Tablet is a screamer once you "Hack" it and then gain access to the Android market. Similar specs to the Touchpad if I am not mistaken.

Hmm, I got an e-mail from HP small business saying my touchpads will be shipped in 6-8 weeks. I ordered them the day of the sale.

HP Small and Medium Business Customer,

Thank you for your interest in webOS and the HP TouchPad – the response to our price reduction has been overwhelming – both in terms of volume and in the energy and enthusiasm it has generated in our customers.

It has taken us longer than anticipated to work through the high volume of orders that were received. We apologize for any uncertainty this caused, but we are now in a position to understand our ability to fulfill your order.

Your order will be fulfilled at the discounted price. However, we do not have enough stock to satisfy your order at this time. It will take 6-8 weeks to build enough HP TouchPads to meet our current commitments, during which time your order will then ship from this stock with free ground shipping. You will receive a shipping notification with tracking number once your order has shipped. We apologize that these timelines are longer than indicated on the website at time of purchase.

Got the same thing.

Too bad I can't just send them something to perhaps....triple the order quantity.

LOL! Yep - "hey, can you make that 10?" Ordered two touchstone chargers to go along with it thinking those may be rare later.

Wife is very happy, but she want's them NOW.

Well at least you guys are gonna get them without being gouged.

You guys are gonna be way behind on the learning curve....But on the other hand currently alot of people doing beta testing tweaks for you guys! Me included

The Touchstone is a must have at least to me anyways. The HP case is also very nice if you can get one on the cheap!

The Touchstone is absolutely essential -- agree with you Ken. I also have the HP case (got both the Touchstone and case from a friend for $40) and while I like it in general, it does get pretty beat up pretty bad.

Just received the same 6-8 weeks e-mail. Considering that I already have one from BB, this one is just icing on the cake. Actually, nice little gadget. Replaces all the newspapers, magazines and makes Engineer an even more lazy bastard! :awe:

The coupons from the original post (30 or 15 off) are still valid and should be used when order extra AC adapters, docks, or cases. I just ordered two docks and two AC adapters (standard cell phone micro USB won't work) and used the discount. I was also able to use my EPP discount in conjunction with any coupons I've used with HP. Me and HP direct are starting to get along pretty well (4 touchpads, the accessories, and a new printer in the last two weeks).

why is the touchstone a must have? I can't imagine ever using it

Why wouldn't you use it? It is quite a bit easier charging the tablet that way than having to use the plug-in charger. Plus, it is just cool.

I probably wouldn't pay $70 but it is worth $40 IMO.

I don't have the touchstone charger yet or even a case for it. I am enjoying the touchpad once I installed preware and some apps on it. I've tried even a few games on it and they are pretty fun. If you want to watch anything movie wise though you really do have to by the Kaleem media player for $7 for it though. Sucks because the free ones don't play well or lockup with audio going. The Kaleem one at least works. Wish the OS came with a good working media player for free but it doesn't.

Also wish it came with a few other apps like a netflix app. Possibly a torrent app. Although if I really want a torrent app I can install Linux on the touchpad and use the linux based torrent if I really wanted to. Still I rather not have to go down that route, because I can always use my main comp for any torrents I might need and just move them over. But it certainly would be nice to have an app for webos though to do what I want.

The number one reason I bought the Touchstone was for the ease of charging and the side benefit of less wear and tear on the mini-usb port.

Although I haven't used the exhibition mode yet it does look like alot of apps take advantage of it to some extent. (79) according to the app store search that is triggered thru the exhibition mode app/settings on the Touchpad. Looks like a nice variety of things to choose from which leads me to believe that just about everybody could find at least one or two things besides the basic clock, photo viewer uses for the Touchstone exhibition mode.

HP 1 upped Apple on the Touchstone and I'm sure all the loyal sheep would pay $100 if it was one of iPad's accessories....After all it would be magical if it was a Apple product

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if this feature is integrated into a future ipad design.

Have you tried Orb and playing through Flash? Works pretty well. You can't fast forward or rewind and have to be on a WiFi but you can access your entire media library on your computer without having to convert. It's free since it works through the web browser.
