And I guess that the app has to be made for the Touchpad. (The site I was at came up for a search for "Touchpad app"," and had a header with a picture of the Touchpad, and it said I needed some version of WebOS, but apparently there's actually damn near nothing there that'll work with the Touchpad. I'm still quite new to the "app" world, in that this is the first device I've owned that uses them.)

And why oh why does this device's (responsive) keyboard lack Home, End, Delete, and arrow keys?

It also seems to lack Ctrl...I assume it has copy/paste capability?

Anyway, I'm looking into the links you posted there. Developer mode On...

my touchpad just arrived. got it booted and downloading the update now.
first impressions are that its smaller and heavier than i thought... and I'm somewhat disappointed by the screen; everything looks kinda blurry and washed out.

I have an Ipad and side by side with the HP TP using the same photo. They are identical IMHO.

Something may be wrong?

Eh, I do too, and I wouldn't say they're the same, not at all. Not that the TP is bad, it just isn't as crisp and saturated as the IPad.

If it looks that crappy something is wrong with it.

eh, I guess I just didn't realize how low of a ppi 1024x768 is on a 10" screen. I'm used to 800x480 on a 3.8", and I was expecting it to be at that level of crispness... so... yeah. Either way I can't really complain for $99.

got it upgraded to 3.0.4
set logging to minimum
installed preware and looking through the various feeds right now.

I think I'll stick with webOS on this; at least until the CM team is able to get a stable version of ICS running on it =P

But, I definitely don't want to invest into the ecosystem if my endgame is to get android on it, so sticking to free apps (for now)

Now that this has died down, anyone get stuck with touchpads they can't sell on ebay/amazon? The prices have been pretty consistent ($220 for 16gb/$250 for 32gb), so I guess they are still selling, lots left though.

Also, I just wanted to mention that my Touchpad has a hairline crack coming out of the top speaker. Apparently this is a widespread issue, so just keep your eyes open. I'm not returning mine because it is barely noticeable and if necessary I'll dab it with super glue to stop it. I don't want to get a refurbed unit from HP in return.

Email from HP's HHO Store re: TouchPad availability:

Making sure customers have a positive experience when they purchase our products is a priority for us. In some cases, limited inventory makes it challenging to fulfill all customer orders. As you signed up for updates on the HP TouchPad, we wanted you to know that we are officially out
of stock. Some retailers will have some stock available, but our online inventory is depleted.

Thank you for your interest in this product and the feedback you provided. Your input plays a critical role in defining our product roadmap and
will help us continue to bring innovative products to market.

Sincerely,
HP

Starting Nov. 1 online and Nov. 4 in-store, Best Buy will have the 32GB TouchPad for $149. The catch is that it has to be bundled with a HP/Compaq laptop, desktop or all-in-one computer.

Not hot, but maybe you can get in on the deal if you or someone you know was already planning to buy a computer.

Heh, I'm thinking of running to BB and hanging around looking for shoppers buying an HP PC. I'll hand 'em $200 cash and be on my way with my TP

Not a bad plan. Saves them the hassle of reselling. Make a sign like the "end of the world is coming" except have it say. "Will Buy your Touchpad $200 CASH."

Now that would be funny.

Totally over the whole Touchpad thing at this point. Gotta buy a HP laptop or desktop from BB to get one for $150 now? thanks but no thanks...

I was willing to spend $100 to have one to mess around with, but if I have to pay more than that I'd really rather have a Kindle Fire for $200 since it is going to be better supported, it runs Android apps natively, and it ties in with the Amazon ecosystem that I use a lot for music and videos. Despite not being quite what the Touchpad is hardware-wise, it just seems like a better use of $200 than trying to get a Touchpad now.

I just noticed the a similar crack on my touchpad near the speaker and usb port. I just sent it in today, so lets see what happens when I get it back! I hope I get mine repaired and not get a refurbished one.
