Got an order in for a 32 GB model on Best Buy's site this morning. So far, the order still says it is valid and my card has been charged.

Of course, I then went to breakfast with my wife and apparently, Staples put the 16 GB model up for $50 on their site. DAMN IT!

Of course, Staples, at $49.99 with FREE shipping last night was the bomb deal (and I was sleeping when that popped in).

Ah, I assumed the $49 deal was this morning. At any rate, I missed it but got an order in at Best Buy for the 32 GB model and within 5 minutes, it was sold out. If the order goes through, I have a buddy who will sell me the Touchstone charger and the HP case for $40.

It may have been this morning. I stayed up until 12:30 following this crazy deal at SlickDeals (over 7 million views in a few days over there), got up at 5:30, went back to bed at 7 and got up at 8:45 so I may be confused at exactly what time it occurred, lol!

The saps buying up local stock of these things are going to be hurting on eBay, I think. They're not going to get huge premiums for them like they think they are.

I probably should've ordered a second one for my wife, but meh -- she has a Kindle and I envision using this Touchpad as my Kindle with a few more bells and whistles. The 16 GB unit literally sold out while I was in the process of finalizing my BB order, so I had to hurry to get the 32 GB model. With Android being ported to it, this could be one of the best deals in history given the hardware.

This!!!

It was reported on SD that the porting was pretty easy because there are essentially no security in this thing (as far as pumping a new OS into it).

In line at a local best buy. Have been told they have 60 in stock, mostly 32 gb models.
Limiting it to one per person.

I read somewhere this morning that HP actually had a large order placed for 64 GB models as well, so if they didn't cancel that order in time, we may see some of them hit the market too.

I saw the Bestbuy online deal when I got up in the morning. 16gb was sold out but 32 was in stock. I thought about pulling the trigger but with tax and shipping it was ~$170. That was little too rich for me considering I have two 16gb and one 32gb on the way from HP. I only paid $182 for two 16 gb units so paying $170 for one 32gb seemed like a ripoff. It's funny how your perception can change over few dollars.

I don't know what I'm going to do with all the tablets considering we already have ipad 1 & 2 and "7 galaxy tab. I'm going to keep all the tablets. I didn't buy for resell.

Going to pick up mine in 15 @ local BB. Glad I got up early.... errr... stayed up late to get in on this. Ordered a 16GB and a 32GB and the store emailed that only the 32GB was available.

I've wanted one of these, but couldn't pull the trigger until this awesome deal came up.

I got my confirmation for two 16gb as well this morning and I ordered Friday night with your help. Thanks. I used the Army code. :sneaky: I didn't know what 2727 code was at the time. I was too busy trying to get in on the deal.

I ordered the 32gb one using a different account and different code Friday night. Haven't got a confirmation email yet but I'm confident I'll get that too considering it's in processing.

If you want to sell one of the 16 GB units, let me know.

Seriously though, I was in your same boat except I had no other orders or tablets. As I was completing my order for the 16 GB unit, it went OOS and I took a couple of minutes to think it through and decided to get the 32 GB model. My order is still in process, my card has been charged, and I can no longer cancel the order online so I think I got it. Less than 5 minutes after I submitted my order, they went out of stock.

And from what I've read, the hardware is very good and the only problems the unit had dealt with software. Those could've been fixed fairly rapidly and indeed, some fixes had already been released. I was actually looking at getting a Kindle and then decided to hold out for Amazon's new tablet in the fall, but this deal was just too good to pass up and it has a Kindle reader as well.

I read a "conspiracy" theory somewhere (maybe here?) that this was intentional on HP's part to stoke interest for webOS since in the short term, development on it will continue and they hope to license it to others.

What i still dont get is WHY hp would do this, if they cut the price to 200 and 250 they would most likely have sold just as many tablets (consider the only real competition is in the 350-500 range). I just dont see why they are doing this, and I dont see why they have agreed to pay back people who bought at full price, just seems...strange :\

Wow, maybe I am wrong -- Touchpads are going on eBay for very inflated prices still.

When they actually sell for those prices, beyond a day or two, that will be different.

What I was wondering last night while looking on ebay were all the auctions in progress that have days to close and bidders well over current prices. Gonna be a flood of retractions is my guess.

fuck.. I am too late... everyone and everything is sold out. I stayed up till 3am last night trying to order from HP.... useless... still couldn't get in on Firefox, internet explorer and chrome....

Fucking bullshit... Oh well, it's not like android is available yet. It will take em plenty of time to hack into this thing. some say they will need to wait as long as October for Ice Cream Sandwich to be released. By then, I'll buy it off of some schmuck whos tired of WebOS.

I just watched an auction go from $304 to $310 closing bid in the last 10 seconds.
