Thanks a lot! I saw that the two links in the OP were still working, but the price was in the $200 range. That's why I asked. I thought maybe there are newer links.

I think very few people know at this time what the future holds for WebOS.

I think it's safe to say that anything you can do with a Touchpad today you'll be able to do until the hardware dies

Buy the Touchpad for what it does today not what it might be able to do tomorrow....If that makes any sense at all.

Well my biggest hope is with all of these cheap touchpads hitting the market more devs will make apps for it in the near FUTURE

Interesting, I wonder if they are going to sell TP's through this page after the backorders are filled? They said small and medium business pages would not get any more inventory, but I forgot about the home/home office page.

Did it recently get updated to the $220 and $250 pricing? It basically matches the ebay/amazon pricing, I wonder if they are following the reseller's pricing to squeeze a out little extra money.

[edit] I just checked some of the comments on SD and I'm doubting that all of the hp backorders will be completely filled...based on the order number range people are displaying I would guess there are 10's of thousands of orders left and they are already pushing the orders back to the end of October which will probably deplete the stock.

Go price out 10" photo viewer with 800x600 resolution. Compare its price to HP Touchpad which has 1024x768. Any more questions? Seriously, this is $99 tablet. Who cares if WebOS is dead or not. Flash web browser still works. Ebooks and PDF works. Email works. Porn works.

I don't care that it's JUST $99. If I don't use it that would be $99 wasted.

Not sure how much poking around you've done so far. Have you gone over to precentral and looked around in the Touchpad forums yet? Seems the more die hard WebOS fans hang out over there.

Got an email from HP SMB Oct 6, for Oct 7, friday delivery with FedEx tracking#. But because of a FedEx screw-up got Oct 10th, Monday.
HP page is not a reliable way to check status of production/delivery dates.
Waiting total of 50 days to get these. Got a 32GB TP from hhgregg early Sept. to play with.

It's basically dead, I think. I don't see Meg suddenly bringing it back.

At this point, I'm basically more interested in getting a Kindle Fire. It isn't quite the hardware the TP is, but it is well supported by Amazon's service infrastructure so in terms of consuming content it is going to be a much better device for me.

Kindle Fire is not an option :\ Any reason they didn't sell off web os? Hell I'll buy it.

WebOS may be dead, but could still contain patents and other intellectual property of value, but it might be more expensive to access that value than it could be sold for, so likely they just sit on it.

hp jettisoned their Touchpad rather than sitting on it.

I say let them sell webOS to ten million volunteers by selling ten million shares at $1 each. When they sell all the shares it goes Open.
Those most interested can donate > $1 and buy as many shares as they like. Considering the likely future of webOS junkyard salvage prices should apply.

If $10,000,000 isn't enough then hp can hatch that egg.

On second thought, considering how much some other tablet OS might benefit from the source code, stipulations that require a price match by either Google, Microsoft or Apple should apply. Once matched, the donations maybe can spin off to a charity or be available to... Look, you work out the details, I'm goin' for a cup of coffee.

Same here and within 30 minutes of receiving that notice (3rd - 2 week notice since Sept. 30th), I received a shipping notification on my 16GB unit! :biggrin:

What's the point of putting GB on the touchpad over WebOS? Honeycomb I can understand; but that shouldn't be possible since the source hasn't been released.
