Well it seems that everyone who used the $300 coupon on the ZE1201 is going to get hit with a $300.00 charge on their credit cards.

Taken for Fwallet:

I called to check my upgrade status and the CSR said "by the way, we have charged you $300 for the fraudulent coupon you used". I was like "are you nuts??" and a loud argument followed. I told her if she does charge me it would be unauthorized and criminal blah blah. That I placed the order over the phone and their employee accepted the order and charged my CC blahblah. She said they are doing it to everybody and doesn't care if I dispute.

I even escalated to a manager and got the same BS story.

well, time to call staples and ask for a replacement, did a rough count of 10+ dead or stuck pixels, only 3-4 are easy noticeable, 3-4 too many.

yeah, only about 4 of them are black and easily noticeable, the rest are grey and harder to see.

you need to update windows xp with service pack 1, and then let windows detect it. i think that's what i did.

Fraudulent my ass. I've spoken to at least 5 different CSRs, they all told me it was a valid $300 off any BTO laptop over $1099 coupon. I'm pretty sure that guy @ FW is just trolling, since pulling that trick would get Staples into really deep sh*t.

It's confirmed now. People over at FW have called and have been told the same thing. I'm not worried though. I'm just going to wait until I get the laptop in hand then dispute the $300 charge with myy CC company (which I shouldn't have any problem doing)

That's interesting, how in the world did it go from a valid $300 off $1099 BTO laptop coupon to a "fraudulent" coupon? Does it mean the CSRs I spoke with were on LSD or some other mind-altering drug?

does it say USB 2.0 or just USB cause I updated SP1 and it still says USB only however the version is the version of USB 2.0

Lets keep our cool. Untill you actually get charged on CC for extra 300 or staples email you again to tell you that you will be charge more dont be fooled.

Anyway its like saturday, why would they do that. I think I go with your troll, or disgrunted dude who is getting a say 1201 and is trying to make us worry.

BTW, i went to Staples today and got $50 back - the $50 coupon didn't work online when I ordered, so I got a price adjustment at a B&M store. As far as the $150 MIR goes, the manager told me the only $150 discount he's aware off is the $150 off BTO laptops below $1099. He hasn't heard anything about the MIR.

Just a note (ignore if this has already been addressed)

But for those you who order the ze1201 with the free luggage and got taxed on the total before coupons,
just email the staples customer service and request the difference back.
I did so and received a refund in roughly 5 days.

Got the call from Staples and decided to cancel.

Staples will probably send an email if they want to charge the extra 300.

almost 2 am in the morning and i decide to call compaq tech support to see if they will get me a new lcd screen. fun. lol.

first a indian guy, indian accent? no problem, i can handle that no prob... but he can barely understand me. lots of repeating later i get transferred to a different department.

everything going well with the new guy, give him all my info again, says it looks like they'll do a replacement for the screen. then i ask if i'll keep the same system or if they will ship me a whole new laptop, and if they do if it will affect the rebate. he goes off to ask about the rebate, comes back and tells me i have to call a different department, sales exchange or something. they're closed right now.

so off to bed i go, and i call later today.

so after getting transferred a few times and being on hold for a while, finally got them to replace the lcd screen. they're sending out packaging for me to send in my laptop.

guess when you have 10+ bad pixels, that pretty much eliminates the attempt of them arguing that SOME dead pixels are normal. lol.

This thing is getting bothersome! Does anyone reading this thread happen to know an attorney who could/would counsel us about where we stand? Is the original charge/receipt (w/ the $300 off) a "contract"? Can they come back after all this & bully us by "take the $300 extra charge plus tax or cancel"? Enquiring minds want to know!

Well, as far as my order is concerned, there are no calls about the upgrade, no calls about the extra $300 charge (I didn't use the $50, $30 and the luggage coupons at the time of order, but got $50 back at a B&M store a few days later), and no laptop Guess I'll just have to wait and see, 2 more days till the ETA date.

Well, for what it's worth, I got a call that I would be getting the "upgrade" to the 4101, and I called back and said that would be fine. They said, though, that it might not ship until the beginning of November! Hopefully I'll get it soon.

Nothing to indicate that they'd be trying to charge an extra $300. That sounds pretty fishy. Personally, I have a rock-solid case against them, so they'd better not try anything fishy. Fishier than they already have, I should say: They charged my CC on October 1, but won't be shipping until November??? That's not right.

Anyhow, like another poster mentioned, I'll just wait for my laptop, dispute the extra charge (if they try that), and AMEX will back me up -- I've got plenty of proof (Including a voicemail message from a Staples CSR that discussed my order and says precisely: "All rebates and coupons will be honored for the upgraded model.").

I ordered on 9/27 and sent in the order form on 9/28.

Definitely send the thing in at least. I believe it has to be sent within 30 days of purchase date. You do have to pay 13.95 in shipping, but it is still should be well worth your while.
