hm, does the ze5000 series have a mobile radeon or mobile radeon 7500?

i'm thinking it uses the older, 1st gen mobile radeon.

Yeah it's a desktop CPU, just like you would buy from newegg. It uses more power and generates more heat but then again, it's upgradable. All the ZE5000's use them.

How do we know that its a Radeon 7500 and not just the old Mobility Radeon??

Can someone please confirm that the 32MB option isn't a 7500M? On HeavyWallet someone said:

First of all, the 16MB is a S4 graphics card (I called to confirm) and the 32MB is an ATI Radeon 7500 Mobility.

Can someone please confirm that the 32MB video with the ze5000 is indeed an ATI Radeon 7500 Mobility?

I just cancelled my order, it's a M6P. I'm sorry, but the HP rep told me it was a 7500.

Guess I'll take a closer look @ the Compaq offerings!

I wouldn't order this laptop because it appears to use a desktop processor (poor battery life & heat issues) and the graphics card.

It may cost you a little more but I'd get a Compaq Presario 1500 or 2800 instead ... check out CostCo.com

how 'bad' is the graphics card anyways? like what level of games would this thing be able to handle?

It's not necessarily "bad", but I wanted the 7500! I really want the 9000, but the delay is more than I can bear. I searched for benchmarks on this chipset, but couldn't find anything. I believe this should be the equicelant of the R100 (First Radeon). This can play games, but not very well. It would be fine for strategy type games (ie AOE2, Empire Earth), but FPS games won't perform well @ all. That is if this is the equivelant of the first Radeon. It could be before that!

At any rate, if you don't care about video games, this is still quite a deal. ATI is great w/ multimedia (ie DVD playback). Good luck to all, I am looking at other avenues!

I had an older Compaq laptop that was a P3 1GHz w/ a 8MB DDR ATI video card. It ran Warcraft 3, Unreal Tournament, and Counterstrike at 800x600 fine.

I have not posted much in Anandtech, But I am very interested in purchasing one of these notebooks. I do not think that the video card is an old Radeon. I base this on the previous link to the resource page on the zt1000 notebooks. If you look at the technical information it says "Display controller: ATI M7 with 32m DDR" I thought that the M7 was the Radeon 7500, please correct me if I'm wrong, I know you will Kholdan

personally i think the 5000 isnt a good deal simply because its a desktop cpu...and althought the 1000 series is a decent deal a better deal would be the inspiron 4150 se....its 1750-10% and free shipping and 300 rebate..which basically amounts to 1475 plus tax minus 300....for me in texas that would amount to 1400 total after tax..but once u consider that u get a 1.7 m processor, a 24X cdrw/dvd insted of the normal 8x everyone else offers...btw i saw this 24x cdrx/8xdvd go for over 300 on ebay, and also comes with 512 megs of ram, and even one stick of 256 at crucial is around 80 bux, and it comes with a 30 gig hd and the radeon 7500, although its has 16 megs of memory
i think that this is a much better deal than either teh zt1000 or the ze5000...just somethin to consider

How do you know that Dell 4150 comes with Radeon 7500?

It doesn't mention anything about Radeon 7500 when I look at it.

Could you please confirm it for me?

Thanks

thank you.

Now I know that I won't regret getting dell.

Thanks once again to clarify this.

do you think it's possible for us to get the sxga screen eventhough there is no option to do that?

what is the chance to get sxga if we call them?

thanks

no, u have to swap them...if u want both in at the same time u can look at the inspiron 2650se, which is actually cheaper....personally i prefer teh 4150 since teh two spindle design makes it considerably lighter.....on another note u might try to obtain a 10% of 1200 system purchase one time use coupon since its stackablewith the first10%off...creating even mroe savings

well... I am lucky you tell me all this information.

I guess I'm gonna have to call them tomorrow morning to cancel this since I need to have both of them at the same time.

I guess now I have no option other than presario 2800.

thanks a lot for the information.

I ended up going with the 4150SE for $1381.16 after rebate... not the smokin deal I was hoping for, but not a bad deal nonetheless...

Does the Dell 4150SE come with just a 14.1 inch display for the rebate, or is there an option for the 15.1?

I believe it's only 14.1". If you want the bigger screen you have to go to the 8200's.
