HSBC is a member of FDIC and they are offering a savings account with 4.25% APY. There is no minimum and no monthly fees. Beats Emmigrant Direct and ING Direct at this point!

If you have money just sitting in your Checking account, let it grow here.

ING Direct - 3.80% APY ( no minimum )

Emigrant Direct - 4.0% APY ( no minimum )

HSBC - 4.25% APY + $25 Bonus ( no minimum ) - Good Deal!
http://hsbcdirect.com/1/start.htm
- enter promo code start to get $25.

Umbrella Bank - 4.40% APY ( minimum of $1000 deposit )

Superior Savings - 4.50% APY ( minimum of $25000 deposit )

The Promo Code is START. I did this about a month ago. I already got my $25. Also got my interest already. It does take some time to set up account, a lot of security measures. Other than that, it has been great and works great with Quicken

Ohh I did. But entering "START" or "start" or even nothing appears to take you to exactly the same page as opening an account from the Home page and does not mention the $25 credit. I must be missing somthing :frown:

Thanks AnimEva for clearing it up

When I opened my HSBC account for a 35.00 bonus a while back, they said it would be 45 days from date of opening the account. The bonus was actually deposited in or around the 30 day mark.

Does having more than one savings account effect credit score at all? I don't really need this, but feel like I should open one just for the awesome %.

Opening another savings account shouldn't affect your score at all, unless it was Netbank, which I have heard actually checks your score before you open an account. An inquiry can lower your score a few points temporaily. HSBC didn't look at my score, because I have access to any inquiries on my score.

It should already be checked for you. Not the ones below the Online products that are marked, Regular Products.

Account Selection
Please select the accounts you would like to open. You may select accounts that require an e-signature card OR accounts that require a physical signature card, but you may not select accounts from both categories.

No. They are considered Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions. I already called them on this because I saw a 3.00 charge for something or the other when I signed up and I thought this pertained to the same question you are asking.

It says "please no mobile phone numbers" under the "Home Phone" section. Well, my "home" phone is a cell phone. Is there any risk to just putting it in? Has anyone else done this? Who has a land-line anymore at home anyway? As a college student I'm obviously somewhat of an exception, but I don't know anyone that doesn't use only their cell phone as their "home" phone.
