Efficiency and performance only. I don't care how much they cost or how hard they are to install on some mobo's....just low temps and most silent running at max stock fan speed.

Why not XP-120? The XP-90C or CNPS9500 will cool the best.

However, I always recommend Thermalright because YOU get to choose the fan. Thus you can choose quiet or loud.

Why the Xp-120 IMO though? While the 90C cools slightly better, you can choose a slower spinning fan with the 120 and get the same airflow as a 92mm fan. If you are willing to go for the same noise leevel as a XP-90C then you will get even more airflow out of a 120mm fan and possibly that can even teh 120 and the 90C. Finally, you get a lot more wingspan and coverage so your fan can cool the RAM and MOSFETs better. Form e, I like silence, so I chose a XP-120

Although I've read that the 90C dissapates heat better than the 120, you bring up a good point.

I ended up going with the Big Typhoon mainly because it's a current top 5 cooler with the lowest price ($42 shipped). I do know that when cooling a X2 4400 that price shouldn't make a difference but I could see no clear consistent performance edge between the Zalman9500, the TR 120 and the Big Typhoon.

Installing the BT is a pain I'll admit and had I known about this ahead of time may have gone with the 120 instead. Oh well, I leaped and won on price but lost a bit on convenience .

You couldnt have really gone wrong with either of those choices. At the high end, theres 1-2c difference at most and that margin of error could just be installation, TIM application and the like.
