HSF Question.

I have an AVC Mega-cool hsf that I got with my duron 800. Is this a good heatsink or am I better off get a globalwin fop32/38 or taisol hsf? Right now I have the 800@1gig and at 1.8v. At full load the mobo(epox 8kta2) cpu probe reads 45C, 38C normal, and case temp of 25C. I'm kinda leary of the mobo cpu temp...not so sure.

Can't say for sure what you'd be better with but here's my 2c worth...

I'm very soon to be upgrading to the Athalon 900 on a KT7 and am down to 2 hsf's - the Alpha Pal 6035 or the Taisol 742 forged. Both of them have great specs and seem to be quite well respected in all the reviews I've read (and that's been quite a few!) the Alpha usually comes out ahead of the Taisol on performance, but not by price. Of course just about every review loves the Fops or the hedgehog, but I'd kinda like to be able to talk on the phone near my system without a loud hum!

as everyone knows, AMD temps are very shady and hard to get accurately, basically, if your running stable, it seems your present setup is fine, but if you have a few extra bucks to spend, then any of the Alpha's and Globalwins that are hot right now, Pal, Pep, Fop38 will give you optimal cooling... , so there's only a performance gain, cause these new sinks are tried and tested to be the best out ther right now...
