I just ordered an Athlon XP-m 2400+ and an Abit NF7-S from Newegg. Does anyone have any good suggestions for cooling this little beast during overclocking? Prefferably around the 30 dollar range...

Not as good as the ~$50 Thermalright with 92mm Tornado fan I just ordered, but great nontheless, especially considering the price: Speeze FalconRock. There are people on this very forum running one with a mobile Athlon at 2.4ghz+, so it can't be bad.

aww shucks myocardia...you just might be thinking of my overclock on my Falconrock

seriously though, i ordered this baby (Falconrock) from the glowing reviews on newegg.com, and i'd say it's as good as any HSF out there...except ones that cost 4 times as much (like that thermalright you just ordered...which i am sure you will love!!!)

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you were the one that I was trying to remember, although there are others, because this little $10 heatsink has started to make quite a name for itself. I almost wish I had waited on spending $50 for the SLK-900a, but I hadn't heard about how good this FalconRock was when I ordered it, I think. Oh well, 30C under load sounds good enough to me to almost warrant the $50 that the heatsink and fan cost me. Matter of fact, I might just order a FalconRock anyway, and compare them while overclocked. What temps are you running under load, Ky?
edit: Oh, did I mention that I also ordered a mobile 2600? Man, I can't wait.

yeah i saw about your 2600...you'll love it

let's just say i don't know what my temps are...HAHAHAHA...i have this POS MSI motherboard that is all FUBAR'd. i'll look at the PC health screen in my BIOS after i restart from Prime95, and it's like (literally) 58C, 66C, 62C, 68C, 65C <--- but i know my temps aren't THAT high, b/c the HSF isn't scorching to the touch like it used to be w/ a coolermaster @ 2.2ghz

but, on my old coolermaster HSF, i couldn't get past 2.2 ghz, and my case was MUCH warmer...but, with the new HSF, I'm at 2.4ghz right now, only stopped by the fact i can't give my 2700 Ram more than 2.7volts, and i can't give my cpu more than 1.8volts...I really feel that my older HSF wasn't cooling as well as this Falconrock, and my computer would freeze when the temps got way too high

gotta love being a ghetto-clocker

I hear you, man. Right now, I have my XP2400 running at 10.5x212.5 @ 1.80v actual with a CoolerMaster X-Dream that I picked up at Fry's for $10! Of course, it is an awesome heatsink. With the fan running wide open (it's adjustable from ~2000 to 6800!), I'm at 43C while running the proc. at 100% folding proteins, so that's definitely not bad. But the CoolerMaster is gonna go along with the 2400 into my daughter's computer, once my stuff arrives. I actually came very close to ordering the mobile 2600 and a cheaper, decent heatsink, then keeping the X-Dream in my box and using the other heatsink on the 2400. Oh well, I'm pretty sure I'll be glad that I didn't. Oh, try either this: Aida32 or SpeedFan to monitor your temps while running Prime95.

thermalright has been my personal favorite for like 2 years now
the slk series are basically the best for the socket A
and the sp-94 is great for P4's
just set up a nice vantec 92mm fan and your set (preferably with an adjustable speed knob if you like your ears)
of course you might have to pay a little more for this kinda setup but it will be one of the best air cooling out there

Noise? What noise? I have four 12" subs in my car, and they will make anyone's vision blur, if I turn it up, which I do on a regular basis. Besides, the 92mm Tornado that I ordered should be quieter than the heatsink I have now, since it's got an 80mm fan and I have the control knob for it all the way up, which is 6,800 rpm.
