Hello All,
are there any good HSFs that dont require removing the mobo out to install them and if so which ones,

btw, my mobo is a MSI P55-GD65 (MS-7585) and my CPU is a i5 661 socket 1156 LGA-ClarkDale

Does your case have a CPU area cutout on the mobo tray?

I use the CoolerMaster TX3 which doesn't require removing the motherboard. It uses the Intel style pushpins to mount. Some hate them, but I was very happy I didn't need to pull my motherboard. It's not as good as something big like a 212, but it's not too far off either (about 4-5C difference). It dropped my load temps about 15-20C over the stock Intel HSF.

I was going to suggest TX3. Decent performance and acoustics and push pin installation at a low cost.

Thanks for the reply's. However, today at Frys I picked up the COOLER MASTER V8 HSF and this one does require removing the mobo and putting a back plate on.

I guess I was being lazy and after going to Frys I decided to get the COOLER MASTER V8, btw, I'm sure you already know this is another very large piece of metal going into my case.

The new generation of HSFs should be called "Heavy Metal" I probably wont install it until next weekend, so thanks again for your input guys.

LOL. I don't know how not wanting to remove the motherboard to install heatsink became getting the one of the biggest heatsink in the market.
